I agree....none of the girls have much of a 'wow' factor to them. Each week, the judges keep mentioning their song choices not fitting them. This could be true but an artist has to have some sort of idea and passion about the music and songs they like to do. Why, on earth, would anyone choose 'Conga' for a singing competition?

It's all about the guys this year, in particular, Chris Daughtry. This would be the first year a rockin' male performer wins the competition...unless the majority of American's bothering to phone and vote are girls under 12.

Katherine's version of "Think" was the only other performance I thought was passable.

I agree but I enjoy being right beside them on their journey... forgiving them for their faults, but at the same time wanting to hear some good singing.

But check this out... Elliott is also talented and could sneak up and snatch it away from him during the more tougher rounds... Besides, Elliott is more versitile and could sing r&b with no problem which could be more of advantage to him.

What could Chris do r&bish to wow us?

Elliott's vocals are certainly more up my alley. As far as overall professional talent goes, these two could likely end up vying for top position....but, then again, we can't rule out the fact that it's not just those of us who embrace genuine talent that are watching. Voters may fall for the natural, down-home charm of Kellie Pickler...she's a cutie that America may just want to see win. (I dread to think what the cut-throat music biz could do to a sweet, innocent girl like that if she does.)

I would imagine (or hope) that talent scouts and music execs pay a bit of attention to American Idol with the possiblity of seeing someone on there that they'd like to approach even if they're not the winner. It would be great to hear some old-style, r&b crooning on the radio from someone like Gedeon.

The guys had an intersting night of singing... They all stepped up their game with the exception of 2.

Kevin of course can't step up his game because he's the least talented of the group. Elliott had an off night by picking a song that doesn't suit his talent.

Ace on the other hand took a huge risk singing that song in fausetto... but hearing it for the first time to go along with his stage presence... I felt it and was in the groove with him.

bottom 3 guys.... Bucky, Kevin & Will

Of the girls... Kinnik, Melissa & Ayla

seem to be the most vulnerable to leave tonight....

It'll be far less interesting without Gideon .... although he was never going to win .

Still, he was the only one of the group that struck me as being there for the best reason of all ..... a love of music . He not only sang each word of his songs .... he sang each syllable ....

All the rest ....are quickly learning and performing songs up until now unbeknownst to them , memorizing them because that's the ticket to their ultimate goal of being "A S-T-A-R " :P :P :P

Except for Gideon .... those other three that got dumped this round .... what were their names anyway ..........

___________

And wasn't Bo's performance bland .... the song ..... .his looks .... Something stanky about him

What a joke this show is!!

They keep Kevin Covais who has as much talent as a dish rag and Gideon gets kicked out. Sure Gideon was cocky, but at least he could sing. Even Will was a better singer than Kevin.

As far as the girls, Melissa should have gone home. Her husky tones are starting to wear thin.

Next week they're doing Stevie Wonder so we'll see how they do.

It really was a major disappointment to see Gedeon pulled off the show already. What a treat to hear a young guy like him sing and appreciate the rich, soulfulness of a song. The music biz really needs to put guys like this out there again. In the past few months, we've lost Lou Rawls and Wilson Pickett...reminders of how great male vocals can be. It'd be so sweet to see some 'soul brothers' pick up where they left off.

Kinnik had to go. Her voice was okay but nothing outstanding. I think one of her downfalls was her height. She is just too tall to be looked at as some major singing superstar. And Simon nailed it on the head last week when he told her she's an 'A' student, a leader in sports and everything else....someone who tries her damnness to be the best at everything...but you can't study hard to come up with good, soulful vocals.

I suppose we shouldn't be surprised that Kevin wasn't voted off last night (as much as I really wanted to see him go :x ) Wasn't it last year there was that obnoxious heavier set guy with very little talent who got up to the last eight or so? I think the people who pull the strings on the show like to keep some no-talent on there to keep us pissed off and to keep the buzz going about the show. Don't you just love the way these 'masterminds' have a way of manipulating their viewers!

And yeah, Bo was bo-ring! I would have thought he would have at least updated the hair. I suppose his Bob Seger look-alike act is a refreshing throwback but he needs the grittier, well-written lyrics to go with it.

I agree with your accessments above... How do you know they are singing Stevie Wonder songs?

Maybe this year after this idol is done.... they can have a special called best of seasons 1 thru 5 contestants... it would be cool to see Vonzell back... I only started watching idol last year...so I don't have much of an opinion of the best from the previous years.

Of all the winners from previous seasons, Kelly Clarkson has done the best. Radio plays her songs quite frequently. The other winners Ruben and Fantasia you never hear anything by them.

no bro... I meant the non winners... who haven't got a recording contract. In other words... giving them another chance to be on the show again. Vonzell (I Believe) doesn't have a recording contract.
