do ya really have that much respect for the recording career of Miss Paula Abdul??? I know she was successful for a period of time--but I always thought of her as a prefab dance artisit--overdubbed to the max (weren't there Milli Vanilli rumors about her that she didn't actually sing her stuff?) and just the most successful of the post-Madonna girl pop fluff group (Tiffany, Debbie Gibson, Samantha Fox, Kylie Minogue, Stacy Q)--Get the picture?

'sides ... ....this ain't about me or what I think ... this is about music history !!! ... for which my opinion has little matter or influence :roll:
We're just putting things in their proper order here ...... exploring whether some respect is due toward our erracticlly moody AI center seated judge ......

Keep in mind .... that in order for Paula to be in the Top Ten for the decade ...that means her album would have had to have been the #1 performing LP for that entire year it was released .....

Those as well as any by Janet Jackson , Madonna , The Stones, Genesis , Journey ... et. all .. Not too shabby !!!

Now back to the business at hand .....

Turning out to be a lackluster finish. You know the evening's not going well when no one is able to make Paula cry once .... not even a single tear. Course that's what happens when you force them to sing the "music" of today ...... the judges weren't the only ones bored to no tears .....


Katharine got a bad case of nerves, Paris started showing that each song she sings sounds the same , and ditto for Chris .

I'm still with Elliot ... not because he outsings the rest ... but because I like his persona and the quality of his voice . Sort of like if James Taylor were competing ..... other's would sing circles around him .... but in the end ... even though limited .... it's his voice i'd rather hear ...
Paris is very gracious ....I like that too ....

hey ..... wouldn't it be something if Taylor actually pulled this off !! :o
I liked his performance the best ..... but it might have been more about enjoying his Beatle song over everything else chosen last night .....

OUT ... Katharine ...... when all the judges can come up with is "you look nice tonight " ...... time to go ! ..... not even painted toes nails can save you .....

I was sorry to see Paris go, but this was not her best week. Why she chose to sing "Kiss" I'll never understand.

I would have preferred to see Elliott get the boot. Hate "On Broadway" and his rendition made it suck even more.

I wasn't sad to see Paris go. She really grated on me for some reason.

I'd be happier if it was Chris that went. I thought he was awful Tuesday night - but of course.."We got a hot one tonight!"

I'm happy that Elliot & Katherine are sticking around. Them combined with Taylor would make an interesting top 3!

I watched it last night - both episodes....I didn't think that Paris did anything too wrong. I just think that maybe the people who watch the show and vote are not into 'Soul Music' or 'R&B'....I get the impression that in the US it's a 'niche' music scene & not entirely mainstream, whereas here in the UK it's probably more mainstream then Rock - I don't know jst an observation.

Anyway Catherine - what a performance of KT Tunstall's song...that was excellent. Taylor's performance of Play that Funky Music was a great performance. It's getting interesting!!

I'm really trying to keep up on the Idol season but it's gettin hard...so long Paris. Chris is going to win it so everyone else is going to have to go one by one 8)

Posts like that do my head in! So I went to the American Idol site...I have to say he is/was a one trick pony - and I was getting bored of his voice, I guess America was too. Can my family's favourite (from the moment we saw him in the audition stage) go on and win it - the gravelly voiced Taylor?

Also .... on tonite's results show .... why in the hell did they give Taylor a solo performance of JAILHOUSE ROCK ? .... Well you saw who they paired up into the top and bottom two ....top 2 were Elliott and Taylor ..... so that means Katharine probably squeeked through . ( literally squeeked ......those god awful high notes of hers ........ )

While i don't think Chris deserved it , actually as an Elliott supporter ... this is in a way a good twist of events . I always considered Elliott a dark horse in this race ......but with Chris gone who do you think his voters will most likely now switch to ? ...... .

Totally!! That's why we love him! I don't think he's the best singer (that accolade went to Mandisa - in my book), but what I personally like about the guy is that he really feels the music, his antics on stage make me smile and he's an entertainer. Now that Elliot's through to the final I'd love him to win - such a great voice and with the right material he could be the one who leads a soul music revival.
