| THUNDERBIRDS and all the Gerry Anderson programs are a big part of childhood for many of us, but I'm skeptical about this "live-action" version. Sometimes you have to leave things alone: that way we'd have no "American" version of RINGU (shudder) coming out. The news sort of reminded me of Geena Davis' brainstorm of trying to do a live-action version of SAILOR MOON.....YUCK!!!!!! _________________ "Is it this sexual RODEO that has you in this STATE?" [ This Message was edited by: Boodikka on 2002-08-01 22:30 ] |

| I hear ya boodi. Kinda like Mission Impossible. I get the feeling that instead of a team thing, it's going to be a "all about me" movie ala Tom Cruise.

These are almost the exact words Bill used when we saw MI. He was pissed because the team got killed and within five minutes he looked at me: "Well --- we're stuck in ANOTHER Tom Cruise movie."

| Guys, pardon my cynicism, but do ya think after they pay Tiny Tom $25 million or so to star--they're gonna let anyone else have anything to do? Not only do all the supporting parts have to be merely plot functional--they don't wanna pay anyone but the STAR their movie quote money. Nearly everyone has to work for SAG scale these days, so the STAR can get his $20, 25, 30, 35 million. Sad but true.

| Hey Nicky. I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one who felt that way. Marky, I see your point. That being said, I for the most part avoid these kinds of movies as much as I can.

| I always preferred 'Captain Scarlett' to 'Thunderbirds'. Never has a lump of wood been so sexy! Oh, that kinda brings this back to Tom Cruise!

| Here's an idea for the Thunderbirds movie. If the original stars were dolls made of plastic, wood and fabric, what about using some "wood" actors for the picture? Would make sense, and certainly there's plenty of them around. My suggestion: Tobey Maguire, Freddie Prinze and Elijah Wood for the team, Alyssa Milano as Lady Penelope, etc. All doing the same rigid gestures of the dolls (no big deal for them). |

| Hey Nano, IHMO, the biggest purveyor of "WOOD" in today's movies is Josh Hartnett--brings to mind Jim (Barbra's Daddy) Brolin in "Gable & Lombard" & "The Amityville Horror". Don't forget "The Car." But then most of the ones you mentioned qualify too. Denise (Mrs. Sheen) Richards sure could play the "wooden" leading lady. Josh is getting ready to do a movie with Harrison Ford, who can give "wood" a bad name in certain movies and especially when doing interviews. Gawd, what a bore.

| Marky, I didn't see Hartnett in action yet, but Ms. Richards is a case of "bad beauty" just like goddess Sharon Stone. The only thing they can play (with a good director behind) is villainesses... but what (few) great jobs they've done! "Basic instinct", "Casino", "Wild things" (eeaarggghhhffff, I just babble when I think of that one)... I'm a fan of Denise since the first time I saw "Starship Troopers". That icy look... and those tits... don't you think she could be a new Joan Crawford, that is, when she reaches 21? |

| Denise Richards = Joan Crawford????? Sorry, Nano. Joan (NOT a fave of mine) had a career that spanned around 5 decades. Denise will be lucky to work for another 5 years?, months?, weeks?, days? BUT, I do agree that she is a hot looking chick. BUT, there's a heavy veneer of shellac over the balsa wood. Her Bond movie appearance as a "scientist" was my camp fave so far. Oh, and I just recently saw her drilled to death under a see-thru covering in a hot tub. I think that was called "Valentine". I was rooting for the guy with the drill.

| OK, Marky, of course you're right. But now I have to see "Valentine". So, it's a see-through dress or a see-through bathtub curtain... Ummm... Gotta see... "Wild things"... whoa... |

| Nano, In "Valentine", Denise is relaxing in a hot tub in a bikini. Of course, there's a party going on in a big old mansion and of course, there's a homicidal maniac murdering people in all the places one person at a time seems to wander off to. So, Denise is real bitchy and gets pissed of at someone and goes to the hot tub. She hears noises. She looks in the lush vegetation surrounding the tub. She sees nothing. Back to the tub where I think the maniac hits her on the head and then closes the automatic see-thru heavy cover of the hot tub. We can see Denise underneath stuggling to find pockets of air to breathe. The maniac helps Denise in distress by drilling holes in the covering to help her breathe and to eventually drill her good. That's the gist of it. I only saw about the last third on HBO one night when I couldn't sleep. BTW, I do agree that Denise had her best role was in "Wild Things". I also liked the casting of Theresa Russell as her mother. What ruined that movie was Neve Campbell. Homely and a thoroughly mediocre actress to boot. _________________ Make My Feet Wanna Dance! | Marky, what you're describing reminds me of that thrilling scene on Brian De Palma's "Body double" -when the Indian drills poor Deborah Shelton (BABY!) with some taladro. Kind of morbid, yeah, I wanna see it even if the movie is stupid! Now you mention Theresa Russell. My friend, Theresa is one of the most beautiful women I ever saw. At least on the screen... OK, maybe I have a soft spot for icy bitches! But that face alone leaves me speechless. I rented "Prostitute" just because of her -and in Argentina it went straight to video with 10 minutes less! I found quite good casting that Theresa played Denise's mother. But what happened to Debbie Shelton? I remember seeing her in one of those stupid highschool movies on late-night cable... and then nothing. She was astounding too (more beautiful than Mrs. Banderas, if you want my opinion). OK, let me find some napkins, I'm babbling blafffhearghhfff.... |
