One group that I have underestimated is "The Bar-Kays" with their very impressive 30years existance in showbiz. The only 2 songs I know of them, so far are Sexomatic (84) and Soul finger (67) which seems to be the original version before "Music" from "Montreal Sound" (78?)

What are the other big hits from Bar-Kays ?

The only other one from them that I know of is 'DO IT (Let Me See You Shake) from 1982.

I think that "Holy Ghost" is their best song.

Please take note that the band that play "Sexomatic" (as well as "Shake your rump to the funk") is almost totally different from the one which did "Soul finger". Most of the original band members were killed in the same plane accident that took Otis Redding's life. The only guys left were the trumpet and bass players (that would be Ben Cauley and Jimmy Alexander, respectively).
I dig this is well-known, but better make it clear for anyone reading this topic. Keep the groove, guys!

Bar-Kays, one of my FAVOURITE funk groups. Well, in 1972 they did a killer track called "Son Of Shaft" which from what I read did do well on the R&B charts, and in 1976 their "Too Hot To Stop" I assume was a hit because I heard it on an internet disco radio show that plays top 40 disco, great song. "Let's Have Some Fun" might have been a hit as it was featured on "Disco Step By Step" TV show in 1977. They are an all-round kick-arse funk group who do superfunky tracks during the 60's, 70's and 80's. Some other great ones to mention are:
Soul Finger 1967
Don't Stop Dancing To The Music 1969
Coldblooded 1974
Shake Your Rump To The Funk 1976
Shut The Funk Up 1977
Holy Ghost 1978
Do It 1982
