Default Joss Stone

What do you guys think of Joss Stone? She's a sixteen year old British white girl who was discovered on a television talent show and subsequently signed a record deal and released an album called [i]Soul Sessions. I'm always skeptical of people who make it big the way she has, especially if they're young, but I have to admit she does have a beautiful voice.

She has a great voice and is quite pretty. Things is, would anyone be interested if she was a fat black women and made the exact same music?

There seem to be a few young singers with talent & class releasing stuff lately & getting into the mainstream charts. :o My favourite at the moment is Amy Winehouse; I'm playing her current CD with alarming regularity.

I bought this album a while back after it was feature in my local paper, but I don't think she's 'Making it big", she's not been promoted much and "Super Duper Love" just lately started to received some air play, I'm afraid this vintage 70's soulful vocals is not going to be received with great success in this day and age, but personally I love this CD.

Betty Wright produced and worked with Joss's vocals, and the likes of Latimore, Timmy Thomas among others (old TK records) are part of the band.

I saw an ad at an American site for her album, which totally obscured her face and was printed in a purply colour so you couldn't tell she was white. :-?
This reminded me about the first time I saw America's Top 10 with Casey Kasem on UK TV in the '80s, and they showcased "...this weeks Black Chart." 'Uh?' I thought.

I remember that show... Casey's shows are always informative.... very addictive.

Anyways Joss was on vh-1 Divas recently.... that was my first time hearing her voice... I was very impressed. However, I had no idea she was 16 :o

Hi,

I love JOSS STONE! The girl got the looks and she can sing! And her music sounds like true soul music to my ears. I'll buy her album soon as I can put my dirty old hands on some dirty ol' money
Peace,

zeca azevedo, not just another larger-than-life diva

Yeah thankfully Joss Stone stays away from the typical P Diddy / Timbaland crap that normally makes artists laugh all the way to the bank.

I kinda like what I hear! :)

I saw her at Rock Werchter recently and the girl is good, very good. She even commands her musicians in Prince-style when they make a mistake. Definitely somebody who lives for her music.

She's from Dover, the same town where the leadsinger of Coldplay is born.

Great voice but when I hear her sing she reminds me more of Janis Joplin.

It's great that record-companies are believing in artists like her.

And "Superduperlover" is a smasher-can listen to it again and again.

(She's beautiful and just turned 17)
:D
