Default Vocal Groups

I don't think this topic has been brought up before. What are some of your favorite vocal groups that don't necessarily play disco or funk. Off the top of my head are:

Moments
Blue Magic
Originals
(Old) Peaches & Herb
Bloodstone
Dramatics

Good topic efunkadelic.

Good choices too...I see you have excellent taste. I have many vocal favorites. Here are a few

The O'Jays - the "Ship Ahoy,Backstabbers,Family Reunion & Survival" albums are classics
The Isley Brothers - (everything between the "3+3 & Between The Sheets" albums
Bloodstone - (the "Unreal" & "Natural High albums were sweet)
The Dramatics - (real soul) let's give a "Toast To The Fool" who don't think so
The Dells - ("Oh What A Night" is my all time favorite track)
The Stylistics - (very close sound to Blue Magic)
The Emotions - (very close sound to Love Unlimited)
Love Unlimited - 3 sisters from Barry White's secret garden
Earth Wind & Fire
The Temptations
The Spinners
The Delfonics - (right up there with The Dells/Dramatics)
Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes
The Main Ingredient
The Originals - can you "Hear The Bells?"
The Ebonys - early stuff from the Huff/Gamble/Sigler camps
what ever became of this group? all I remember is 1 album.
The New Birth - the "Blind Baby/Birthday" albums made me a believer

There are so many more...I could get carried away here. I hope this topic turns up some good results. :D

Visuals,

I'm hoping this topic brings up good slow songs that we don't talk about very often. :D I gotta tell you Be My Girl by the Dramatics (LP version) is the jam. I would have never heard it if it wasn't for the Billboard Charts... as I saw it creeping up the charts slowing only to stall at around #51. :(

Honorable mentions must go to The Temptations. Obviously they're not really known for being a disco group but they did put out some great disco stuff nevertheless. The 1980 "Power" album is amazing and really got them back on track after their ill-fated stint with Atlantic in the late 70s

The Vocal Group Brighter Side Of Darkness had a hit called Love Jones I've always wondered how more songs from them would sound like... Of course the young lead singer sounds very much like a young Michael Jackson

Anybody ever buy or heard this LP?

Some good R&B acts mentioned here... :)

McCrary's - You (good soul groove to it, plus the only song I know by them)

Side Effect - has some good Lp cuts

Mtume - their ballads are top notched

Patti Drew (60's)

just to name a few more...

Nice list of groups nicknack...

I have a question:

Did anybody play Love Or Leave by the Spinners 7" version over the LP version?

the 7" version has a lot more energy to it than the Lp version even tho it was edited.
