Five Corners Quintet : Three Corners.
Actually tuned in to Mr. Peterson's show last week and was quite impressed by this - sounds like Roy Ayers, circa 'West Coast Vibes'. Modern, but classic in sound.

Quote:
Ronnie Mathews : Manha Do Carnival.
A criminally under-recorded pianist who has never put a foot (or finger) wrong. Regularly spin his 'The Thang' LP, also.

The Five Corners Quintet is classic jazz with all the benefits of modern production tecniques, Eero Koivistoinen is on sax (so you know it's gotta be good). I was luck enough to get sent a promo 10" copy, will be in the shops mid Feb 04.
The Ronnie Mathews is a great piece of mid-tempo fender jazz, bit tricky to find though (even goes for big bucks in Japan where it originates from).
Carmen Lundy has such a great voice, never get tired of hearing this track.

Hiya Forrrce,
The circles we move in are sometimes smaller than we think!
I know of another Mark Taylor here in the South of England who plays soul & jazz, so I changed my dj name in the early 90s to Mark GV Taylor (also part of the Dig Family from Leeds, check Straight No Chaser playlists!)
Do you know any of the guys at Soul 24-7 radio?

Mark

Mark, you do the show with Adrian Leach? I haven't listened in a lot because I work Sundays and don't get home 'til late. The people we have in common would be along the lines of Cooper, Albert, etc...ringing any bells?!

Yeah, I know these infamous two! (just spoke to John yesterday) Do you still sometimes go out to club nights, jazz or other styles?

I do go out occasionally and I still DJ from time to time. I play mainly boogie and disco, plus fusion if I don't get booed off. I should be doing a little project with John in the near future - I've been buying records from him and the other guys sin ce around '89. I do the Cedar Audio restoration for the label that he used to work for. Anything else you want to know, I'll PM you.

Also constantly on the look out for 'The Bottom End' for Seymour!

A small world indeed! I know Seymour very well, he often comes round my place for a disco or jazz music session.
He finally found out the background of The Bottom End!
Turns out it was a 12" released by a Californinan audio company. They had it made for testing high end hi-fi equipment (the B-side is church organ music!!!)

That's right, so if anyone here knows M&K audio from LA - we need some copies of one of their test LPs!
