hi JIMARUS ahh THE MODULATIONS theres not too much to tell as their career was criminally short  they were larry allen/hoyal saunders/henry channelle/larry duncan apart from the album buddah singles were buddah398-im hopelessley in love/what good am i [12/73] buddah418-i cant fight your love 8) /your love has locked me up-[9/74] buddah497ill always love you/worth your weight in gold[9/75] prior to buddah there was another single mozel-101-share your love/ who's going to loose all the modulations discs are great but for me i cant fight your love is one of the sexiest/smoothist/slinkiest dancers ever made :P the album is pretty rare and well chased after buddah is one of the best labels there was and this period for me was their most creative period week after week they were knocking out quality soul /disco records by the paragons/the sins of satan/vitamin e/the ebonys/black satin/mel williams/the futures/joe anderson and many more. if it was only the same today, some chance

If either of you are Modulations completists and may have missed it, there's the previously unreleased instrumental version of 'Rough Out Here' on the recent Montana 'Heavy Vibes' compilation on Right Tempo. Not sure what MJ Cole was thinking about when he covered it, either. North London ain't that bad!

Hi fellas, I have THE MODULATIONS' ROUGH OUT HERE album on LP and I think it's a GREAT Philly Soul album, even if some tracks sound derivative. My favorite tracks on the album are the groovy IT'S ROUGH OUT HERE, the sweet LOVE AT LAST, the ballad THOSE WERE THE BEST DAYS OF MY LIFE and the beautiful instrumental track SHARE WHAT YOU GOT, KEEP WHAT YOU NEED (by far my favorite track on the album). The album ROUGH OUT HERE was released on CD format in the 90's in UK, but it's out of print now. BTW, my friend DISCODISK is right about BUDDAH RECORDS: this label released some great SOUL singles and albums in the 70's, thanx to NEIL BOGART (the A&R man of the label - the guy who founded CASABLANCA RECORDS). DISCODISK mentioned some great artists who recorded for the label. I really LOVE THE FUTURES' first album (released by BUDDAH) - for me, it is better than the excelent records this underestimated group recorded for PHILADELPHIA INTERNATIONAL. I read somewhere that THE MODULATIONS recorded an album in the 90's. I think it was recorded and released in JAPAN only, but I'm not quite sure. Any info about this album? Peace and soul, zeca azevedo

Hey DISCODISK, my man! How are you brother? Thanx for your kind words about me. I already have PARTY TIME MAN by THE FUTURES and you're completely right, it's a classic floorfiller. In fact, THE FUTURES never recorded a weak album, as much as I know. But their first album is my favorite because of the super mellow stuff. BTW, I have a great comp on CD called BUDDAH DEEP SOUL which was released by SEQUEL RECORDS. It contains 20 beautiful soul tracks by artists like JOE ANDERSON, THE FUTURES, JUDY WHITE, AL PERKINS, ARTHUR ALEXANDER, JIMMY LEWIS, NEW BIRTH, EDDIE & ERNIE and VITAMIN E, among others. When I hear this one I know there's a lot more on BUDDAH archives than we already know. I hope this beautiful music appear in record stores very soon. Peace DISCODISK and friends. zeca azevedo :D

sorry to revive an old thread but has anybody noticed that Charo and Salsoul Orchestra "Dance a little bit closer" reworks elements of the modulations' "I can't fight your love". i think mr montana would be the connection here.
