Quinny,

I got a copy from the internet.... I love hearing the snaps, crackles & pops...  This is a cool jam... I would have bought it back then. You like this better than "Funkin' For Jamaica"?

EFunk: Yep, I think I do like it better than 'Funkin' For Jamaica'. I t'e the soaring trumpet and jazzier feel that does it for me. The chorus is a little twee though.

Whilst we're back on the Tyzik topic I recently got the CD of 'Farthest Corner Of My Mind' from GEMM & it's brilliant & contains the previously mentioned 'Sweet Nothings' that I love so much. I have a question though; 5 of the 10 tracks were recorded in 1981 according to the sleeve credits & the other 5 were recorded in 1982 using different musicians. Does anyone know, were there originally 2 different LPs that have been put onto 1 CD? It seems unusual that a jazz-funk/disco type LP from that era had 10 tracks at 50 minutes +. :-?

Steely, does this CD have 'Inner Space' on it? I couldn't get past the first 2 Tyzik LPs, 'Prophesy' and 'Radiance'. 'Sweet Nothings' was a big London tune...and good ole' Tony Monson used 'Inner Space' as the theme for his radio show in the mid '80s. '...Farthest Corner...' is quite Freddie Hubbard-ish. Great jazz-funk - though I have to admit, I found 'Jammin' In Manhatten' a bit of a racket! :o

I reckon it's a compilation of tracks from 'Prophesy' and 'Radiance'. This CD sounds like a must-have!

Yes Forrrce, it does contain 'Inner Space' & I haven't stopped playing it since I got it via GEMM! I'd been looking for this CD for ages.
The track listing is as follows:
Prophecy
Florentine
Birth Day
Inner Space
Far Away
Notte A Roma
The Farthest Corner Of My Mind
Sweet Nothings
Circe (The Enchantress)
Straight Ahead

I absolutely love the orchestration on many of these tracks & they must be amongst the last of the truly classic jazz-funk material made.
Like you, Tyzik's stuff after '82 seemed shallow & dull by comparison with its crashing drum machines & sparse arrangements (but then one could say that about most post '82 dance material- were Herbie Hancock's 'Rockit' & Roy Ayers' 'In The Dark' classic or classy music? I personally think not, whereas 'I Thought It Was You' & 'Love Will Keep Us Together' for example, definitely were.)

Talkin' 'bout Jeff Tyzik...I was watching the ending of an episode of "The Sex And The City" the other day, and guess what was suddenly playing in the background - "Prochecy" by Jeff Tyzik. Needless to say I was quite surprised!

Sorry Steely but I really have no idea :( I never really followed the show and me wathing the ending of an episode (waiting for a movie start) was purely coincidental.
