I'm only just getting my head round the sound of "Two Step". Can someone give us a definition and perhaps some examples?

Default Re: Two Step

i assume you are referring to two step soul.

It refers to dance steps. And tends to be 3 steps over a two feel - like (step and step ... step and step) or (and step step... and step step) or (step shuffle step... step shuffle step)

it tends to be slowish i.e below 95 bpm

as a genre it is very loose most songs that can be labelled two step soul could just as easily be labelled rare groove, soul, modern soul, neo soul, boogie, new jack swing etc

some examples could be keni burke, wichael wycoff, breakwater, al johnson, natural high.

hope this helps
