Default 6o's to Disco

Sorry if this thread upsets a few people, but what about a list of artists who are famous for their 'Disco' recordings but who made their first dance recordings in the 1960's? (and sometime before!)..some of these were big Northern Soul club hits btw.

Here a few starters...
Thelma Houston 'Baby Mine'
Gloria Gaynor 'She'll Be Sorry'
Harold Melvin And The Bluenotes 'Get Out'
Dolores Hall 'Good Lovin Man'
Marlena Shaw -'Wade In The Water'
The O'Jays... take you pick on this one! I'm choosing 'I Dig Your Act'
Tavares..as Chubby and The Turnpikes 'I Didn't Try'
Sharon Redd 'Half As Much'
Melba Moore 'Don't Cry Sing Along With the Music'

I can only think of the obvious Philly examples:
Baker Harris Young,et... of MFSB, Salsoul Orchestra, The Trammps were the same guys on Cliff Nobles & Co 'The Horse', and also played as Electric Indian.

Disco Funk

The Trammps featured members of The Volnacos and The Moods too I think.

Members of The Ritchie Family were in Honey and The Bees (is that right?)
Ortheia Barnes was in Cut Glass.
Esther Philips (What A Difference A Day Makes, Our Day Will Come, Magic's In The Air) goes way back to the 50's of course andhas great records from the 60's as does Arthur Prysock.
Few more -
Geraldine Hunt -"Winner Takes All' and 'Never Ever Leave Me'
Viola Wills - 'I Got Love' and 'Together Forever'
The Whispers 'The Dip'
The Detroit Emeralds- 'Showtime'
Betty Lavette - 'I Feel Good All Over'
Tamiko Jones - 'Spellbound'
Chcuk Jackson ' Good Things Come to Those Who Wait'

Nice ones remicks! Jim Gilstrap's 'Run Run Run ' is a great choice A bunch of us visited New Jersey in May last year and I'm proud to say we met Jay Proctor from The Techniques there. Candi had a 60's release called 'Now You Got The Upper Hand' which is a desirable 45 on the Northern Soul Scene.

Definately the same Whispers, marmite. Nice call on The Chi-Lites !

Another great Three Degrees track..."Contact" on Warner Brothers...not the same as Edwin Starr's track of the same name, but a spacey, showbizz enfused dance record about taking off in a rocket !

Just thought of a few more--The Fantastic Four on Ric Tic and then on Westbound...and how could we orget The O'Jays, The Intruders, Harold Melvin And The Blue Notes and Archie Bell and The Drells !
