| Unlike our awesome friend, DISCODISK, I am not an expert in Northern Soul but I got into the Northern scene for a short while 1987-89 - until I my wife..... :( I have always been interested to know where and when and by whom some of my favourite Northern Soul tracks first got discovered on the scene. Take two of my favourites: O'JAYS - I'll Never Forget You GARLAND GREEN - Ain't That Good Enough If you could happen to know, Discodisk, where they first appeared I would be very interested... And another question for you guys (and you may find this of interest, Bernie) .... One of my favourite disco/funk records - in my Top 25 - Aquarian Dream and Phoenix was big on the Northern scene, so I have read on the web. Any info on that one?? :)

| JAZZ theyve been around so long its hard to remember though garland green is probibly r/searling aquarian dream is more one for the king georges hall in blackburn a 3 room place that has northern /modern and the other room plays all the new york disco suff from the mecca and the ritz thats where that type of stuff goes down [what a choice all in one club!]weve spoken about this before garland has a REAL northern soul history but i love his r.c.a /spring 70s stuff a hard to find spring release thats as good as aint that, but slightly slower is "just loving you" this is available on a fantastic c.d on southbound called safe soul on this you also get act ones best single that wasnt on the album "it takes both of us" that gets plays and is sought after in europe its only a tenner record but try to find one! but the real beauty of this c.d is you get two takes of an unreleased [event]phillip mitchell track "ill see you in hell first" one a drug take the other a pimp take, one one of the best 70s productions you could ever hear this c.d was released in 1990 but was available until recently im sure you could still get it,there was a vol 2 but not so good also for more garland check those old r.c.a rare l.ps [remember them late 80s]for his track"ive quit running the streets" which is also rather good ! |
