For Cerrone's classic albums (http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fs%3Fie%3DUTF8%26x%3D0%26ref_%3Dnb%255Fss%26y%3D0%26field-keywords%3Dcerrone%26url%3Dsearch-alias%253Dpopular&tag=berniesdiscomusi&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957), what's the CD situation? I know that some were released on Unidisc. And then I believe he released remastershimself 8 or so years back?

I ask cuz I was looking for Angelina (which is I think Cerrone 6?) and finally ordered a copy from Amazon which had it and the following album PANIC on one disc. It arrived and I have to say it was cheap and the sound is good (I think it's from source or a CD source, not vinyl) but the packaging is from Russia which makes me think it's a bootleg like most disco from Russia (though it sounds better than past Russian bootlegs I've had). The actual CD label is a full on Ariola Records reproduction which is fancier than most I've had (no CD-R either). Has Angelina been officially remastered/released?

The other Cerrone discs I have are the Unidisc releases of Supernature and Golden Touch. Supernature sounds great, but Golden Touch from Unidisc has a bad mastering problem--the sound level goes up and down throughout my favorite track, to a distracting level. I finally got a later remaster of this album from another label which has 100% better sound (and a black cover, the Unidisc is white).

Also, I see Cerrone has had two new CDs in the past few years--are they goodat all? I lvst interestin his music for a while, but I loved his return to old style disco, Hysteria that cameout around 2005.

Thought I would share some recent findings on iTunes. I've checked fairly regularly and these would appear to be newly added!

* all four of Vicki Sue Robinson's RCA albums (under one title featuring the cover from her 2nd album); LP tracks only, no 12" or remixes
* Space: "Magic Fly" LP ("Carry On/Tango In Space"); the not-so-good 2nd; and the "Just Blue" LP with "My Love Is Music"
* Love & Kisses: "Love & Kisses" - all 16 minutes of "I Found Love" and "Accidental Lover"; "How Much I Love You," including the full length "Beauty & The Beast." Definitely a needle drop.
* Black Light Orchestra, "Once Upon A Time"
* Harry Thumann, "Underwater"
* Suzi Lane, "Ooh La La" LP
* Bruni Pagan, "Fantasy" LP

I am admittedly no audiophile but the majority of these tracks sound fine to me, although the L&K tracks have a few noticeable pops and hiss.

Download these tracks and let iTunes know that people want more classic disco!

Have a question and I hope ya'll can help me. What would have been the reasoning for a record company to issue a non-danceable country tune on 12" single for DJ club play :icon_question:

Reason I'm asking is that I came across this weekend a 12" promo single of the Boys' Band "Please Don't Stop Me (Baby I'm On Fire)" from 1982.

Each side features the identical 3:23 cut of the song, and it's a soft rock/country tune. Definitely NON-danceable, and not even a hot/heavy ballad to get dancers snuggling on the dance floor.

I just think it's weird that it was issued on 12" single, and wanted to know do ya'll have other examples (in your collections) of odd tunes on 12" ???

The few others I have I can understand the reasoning (the Band Aid / USA for Africa charity singles on 12", and even Glenn Medeiros' 1988 hit ballad "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You" 'cuz it's an extended version), but for the life of me can't see why this normal-length country tune named above is on 12". Still scratching my head on that one.:icon_confused:

In the meantime, do not keep trying to login or request a new password as it will only make matters worse and cause you to get locked out. Sorry for the problems, but this has nothing to do with the site and I hope the software maker finds out what's wrong. Thanks for your understanding and I'll get right back with everyone.

Just wanted to share something I stumbled across a few minutes ago. Just loved it! Has everything I like...Disco music and wall-to-wall Asian girls!

zAnsjsyEBwk
Uhm Jung Hwa (Korea): D.I.S.C.O.

And, of course, this reminded me of my other favorite disco song with hot Asian women (and mind you, these girls are pushing their 50s in this video!):

Dn2kYn_Wmz4
Pink Lady (Japan): Kiss In The Dark

Anyone know of others to add to this collection!

I accidentally came across a youtube posting of a track that sounded oddly familiar.

BxEbL896mEo

After a sec, I realized it was the exact same recording (remixed, though) that appeared on the Touch LP Energizer as '(You Don't Know How To) Do The Hustle'.

I thought I'd check out other tracks on youtube by 'Hustle Factory', and found this one as well

WIEtfYVLjTI

Same backing track, just slightly remixed, with different vocals.

After digging, I discovered it was part of a 3 record set by 'Hustle Factory' called 'Do The Hustle'. The first two records were dance instructional (horribly mixed, with the instructions one channel, the music on the other), and the third was just the music only.

After buying the third LP, which was music only, it turns out the above two cuts that were on it, were by Tony Valor and Touch. In fact, almost the entire record is Tony Valor material. There's even an alternate version of 'Just A Little Timing' credited to Maryann Farra and Satin Soul, but it's not as good as her LP version.

The one track I was glad to find, and had been searching for since seeing it on a bootleg breakbeat LP as 'Tony Valor - Amore Santos' was 'A'More Santos' credited on the LP as written by Valor but performed by Santos.

Check out this record if you really enjoy Tony Valor and the Touch record. There are a few songs on this record that were also on Gotta Get It in instrumental version, but with vocals on this record. Stay away from the 2 LP set, that's the instructional record. Both on Realm.

Disco probably came easy for *Percy Faith* . As an orchestrator he was known for his lush arrangements ( notice in the footage , the "101" strings & the three french horns ). It is he who is often credited with creating the Easy Listening or Mood Music format. :icon_cool:

NYC took to his updated disco version of *SUMMER PLACE* nudging it into the Top Ten of Marky's Censensus Chart:

Hi there all fellow Disco Lovers - this is my alltogether second post on here.
I ask regarding Ann Margrets Disco Single "Everybody Needs Somebody Sometimes", as far as i know there were 2 issues in the US - one having Part 1 & 2 and the instrumental and the other had Part 1 & 2 and "Hold Me, Squeeze Me". I searched for some informations on the song and found out on Discogs that it was also released in France. The intersting thing is that Frange only had a 12" with a "long version" running 6:51 and the instrumental - does anyone on here have that french single and can confirm that the song really runs 6:51 and is not just the Part 2 version?
here are some links to the release on discogs.com:

Ann Margret - Everybody Needs Somebody Sometimes (12", Maxi) at Discogs (http://www.discogs.com/Ann-Margret-Everybody-Needs-Somebody-Sometimes/release/1492337)

Images for Ann Margret - Everybody Needs Somebody Sometimes (http://www.discogs.com/viewimages?release=1492337)

Also on another intersting fact - AM performed the B-Side "Hold Me, Squeeze" on TV in an edited form - running about 4:25- so maybe a 7" release was planned - who knows

maybe someone can shed some light on this issue :)

I'm still not sure if the lyrics to this Miracles track was meant to be, or taken to be, homophobic or not. Did this track get any air time at the gay clubs, or was it considered unflattering?

The whole Miracles LP City Of Angels is somewhat ground breaking, kind of like the What's Going On for the urban dance culture. But this one stands out as being especially in your face.
