| Me again... Okay okay okay, I know this is a touchy subject with many, but I would be interested in your views on the contest...I have to admit that I am an addict, and it has produced some classic Eurohits over the years...and some fabulous fashion crimes too!!! I was fortunate enough to go to the contest in Birmingham in 98, and it was fantastic!!! :D |

| I really liked Dana International's "Diva" which won a few years back. And the Xenomania Mix of Katrina & The Waves's winner "Love Shines A Light" was great as well. There's even a good dance mix of this year's winner Helena Paparizou's "My Number One" called the K.O. Power Anthem. |

| For some of us "across the pond" who are not familiar with this...what is it exactly? I mean, I know it's a song contest. What makes it: a) so trashy? b) so political? It's apparently a guilty pleasure... |

Iam/was big fun of Eurovision contest. My favourite songs were "Ven" by Laura Fabian(I think that she represented Portugal in 1998),"Give me give me give me" by One(this song always reminds me the gay anthems"YMCA" and "Crusified",very catchy),"Le dernier qui a parle" by Amina and of course "Rapsodia" By Mia Martini |

| Eurodance, Its a yearly competition run by The European Broadcasting commission. Say, for example, each US state had a song, they would put each one into a competition and each state votes for other states songs. The problem is there are dislikes between countries. A one time Greece NEVER voted for Turkey and vise versa. This year year was a wecome first, for Turkey gave Greece 12 points! Scandanavian countries always vote for each other. The Balkan states vote for each other. This is why this years competition was a complete farce. There are 4 countries that put the most money in. The UK, Spain, Germany and France. It has always been a bit trashy, that's why people like it. They even hold eurovision parties and dress up as past winners, watch the show, then play most of the older entries after! LOL. |

Thanks, Davicillo! Do any of these winning songs or artists ever make it to the big time (other than Lara Fabian which I read about in another post)? |

| Well get this; Bacarra did a song for Luxembourg in 1978 Celine Dion won for Switzerland in 1988 Katrina & the Waves won for the UK in 1997 Lulu won for the UK in 1969 Cliff Richard represented the UK. Telex represented Belgium Julio Iglesias represented Spain! Olivia Newton John represented the UK. And that's just the start! |
