Default Taco - Putting On The Ritz

Me again...

This track is surely second only to "Sing Sing Sing" by The Broads in the "fabulously cheesy high camp euro dance classics" stakes...any comments? Only ever owned this on 7" (released on RCA in the UK), but I know it was huge in Europe, around the time of "Words" by FR David...82 I think? "Trying hard to look like Gary Cooper, super duper!" :D

Yes I have that mix...it's very well done! Also heard a megamix which mixed "The Night" with "Buffalo Girls" by Malcolm McLaren, called "Buffalo Night" (surprise surprise!!)...sounds odd but worked really well! :D

The real name of Valerie Dore is Dora Carofiglio. She was a lead singer of group Novecento in 80's. She did many back vocals for all famous groups and singers and also did main vocals in a few song such as: Answering servis - Call a mister telephone
and others.

She was the lead of the group Novecento?? Are you sure?
I love FR David's Words!!
Back to Valerie. back in 1986 a friend of my brother kinda gave him this mix tape with songs that are now burned in my brain, they are classics to me and probably to a lot of you guys.
Valerie Dore's Lancelot is one of my alltime favorite songs. I only recently got the 12" off eBay (check out the horrible 80s style, I hated it back then too).
Then I have an interesting story. I had a friend in a music store whom I had asked to print me a list of the catalog stuff they could order and I haf fun giving her all names i could think of (this was me pre-internet days-4 years ago lol). I did order the 95 cd single of The Night and I never listened to it (long story why I don't listen to some things).
4 days ago I was being driven home by my brother and I always put on this italian radio station that plays only 80s music and this song came on and I loved it rightaway because its just the type i love, Eurodisco/ItaloDisco, those cool drums and the melodies, the synths lol. I though, damn I need to find out what this is, and I know already that there is NO WAY to contact the radio guys cause its like they dont exist, so I have to try and listen to the lyrics so I can search for the song in the net. Well AS USUAL the words are inintelligible because if you are here in this forum, you know that ItaloDisco artist, usually italians or germans who sang in english, are horrible so good luck figuring out the lyrics. Well I did manage to "decode" some words and lo and behold the search engine returned the result "The Night" by Valeri Dore!! WOW man what a coindicence! The song does not sound like on the radio. These days radios use some equalization systems that make the music sounds more different than it really is. Like you know on some hifi systems you have predefined eq levels and the music changes a lot. I never do that because I want to listen to the original music, the way they meant it to sound.
