....Was sat on the tram this morning at 6.30am on the way to work (half comatose as usual)...Flicking through the metro newspaper hoping not to see more photos of Britney & Paris Hilton..
Anyway !...I came across the music section and "lo and behold".. a small article about 80`s HI-NRG !!!!!
Nice little piece on how HI-NRG was a "direct electronic offshoot of 70`s disco" etc.. and has had a "huge inflence" on British produced pop. It mentioned some of the DIVINE records (LOVE REACTION), THE FLIRTS & BOBBY O (PASSION) & EVELYN THOMAS( HIGH ENERGY). It also mentions that some of todays dance music is a progression of the 80s HI-NRG sound (Felix Da Housecat album..Kittens & thee Glitz).

Today I'm sat at work with "We Collide" by 'mesh' hammering my ears.
I've been listening to this album since December, and I can't put it down.
You know when you find something that you want to tell everyone about and make them sit and listen to it? It's very rare when I come across something which has that effect. Every few years.

I know it's not 80s or 90s Hi-NRG, but if you like The Twins, Depeche Mode, or any of the dark German male electronic groups, with plenty of drama and orchestral sounds thrown in, you'll love this.

I miss the very varied styles which used to come under the Hi-NRG/Euro banner. Mesh provides that darker masculine edge which I find missing from the current NRG scene.

It's very rare that I get tingles from current dance music. This does it for me, big time! It takes me right back to 'The Desert Place' and 'Face To Face, Heart To Heart'.
