Magnifique...Is that Brenda Holloway/Jimmy Ruffin an ian Levine production ? What label was it released on ? I bought a good Brenda Holloway track last week called GIVE ME A LITTLE INSPIRATION, Released on the Nightmare label in 1988.
I love that MIQUEL BROWN track from 1989, it should have been massive. very similar to SO MANY MEN.
Not heard that Curtie & the Boom box track - any good ? I have their excellent "Black Kisses" on Dutch RCA 12".
Desiderata is another good hi-nrg track - I play that quite often. have it on 12" single and a HI-NRG compilation CD "The Definitive Nightmre 12" collection" (2CD set)

Brenda Holloway/Jimmy Ruffin: Yes, it's an Ian Levine/Steven Wagner production. I have the Rams Horn pressing (RHR3771) of this original Nightmare recording. Mixes: 1) 12" version, 2) 7" radio version 3) Nightmare dub mix 4) 7" instrumental version. Year: 1989.

Curtie: "Let's talk it over..." is on the B-Side of the LP (long version). "Black Kisses" is the first track on Side A. I personally wouldn't hunt down "Let's talk it over..." - "Black Kisses" is a better song. However: If you find the LP at a reasonable price - buy it. There are a few other nice tracks on the LP: Chincilla, Bachelor's Bed, etc. LOL

Desiderata (Heart of Glass): I have this one on a Rams Horn 12" (1988). The 8:21 min. version of "Every Waking Hour" is on the back side.

Wow! I like your tracklisting.

I'm glad you're listening to "Magnifique" by Magnifique and NOT the Scissor Sisters' version!

Direct from vinyl to CD here's what's spinning on me boom box in my pooter room.

Bianca Fernandez - Tomorrow Doesn't Matter Tonite (1986 Make Them Dance) One that seems to have passed-by, but great track. (I only know one other tune from this label, which was a superb cover of Love Pains, running at 9 minutes long, by Lorenzo Johnson from the same year)

Barb - I Want My Money Back (1983) One of the most under-rated "hi-nrg" tunes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (And now hard to find)

Funkmeister - War Dance (1984 & FGTH's Relax with Winston Churchill war speaches over the beat)

Michael Oliver - Breakin Up Breakin Down (DJ International label but sounding nothing like Chicago House 1986)

Tina Charles - Learn By Your Mistakes (great comeback hi-nrg track)

Tony Cook & The Party People - On The Floor (Rock It) superb old skool dance tune from 1984, with that D Train / Sharon Redd feel 80's synth affect, including speeded up AEIOU type vocals. Love it for the bass line alone

Armenta & Majik - I Wanna Be With You (Dub 1983). Not hi-nrg but classic dance tune spun at my local gay club regardless.

Orlando Johnson & Trance - Chocolate City (nice scratching and a funky bassline from 1984)

Tina B - I Always Wanted To Be Free (album track only with Arthur Baker & John Robie at the controls + Hall & Oates on backing vocals 1984)

Vivien Vee - Blue Disease (superb low-key throbber, which always reminds me of The Eurythmics track Paint A Rumour, from Touch Dance LP 1984)

Tina Charles - Go To Work On My Love (A-side of previously mentioned track and sounding like a Lonnie Gordon / PWL type "Housey" release)

Set The Tone - Let Loose (Defo NOT hi-nrg but a classic funk / drum-driven / stop-start instrumental, remixed by Kevorkian and a huge "hit" in the early days of The Paradise Factory / Garage from 1982)
