Hi Neil!

sorry but I had to vote for my second favourite, "High Energy", as my real favourite "Where Is My Man" by Earth Kitt wasn't included! :D

I voted for Earlene Bentley's 'Caught In The Act' but my very favourite has to be Eastbound Expressway's 'Primitive Desire'.

Earlene Bentley is one of my all time favourite HINRG Divas - It would have been great to have a couple of new remixes of that track 8)

Default ol'skinflint is confused here!

I've never heard of Record Shack! I'm assuming it's a record label? Independent? Did any major artists record for this label? Any pop hits?

Hello - Record Shack was a very successful independent record label based in the UK during the 1980s. It started out as a small record shop selling Soul/Disco/Funk records to Djs... They went into production specialising in HINRG dance music. They teamed up with legendery Northern soul DJ Ian Levine who wrote & produced all the HINRG releases (along with his musical partner, Fiachra Trench). Many of the releases topped HINRG charts all over the world and often crossed over into the mainstream "pop" charts - especially tracks by Eartha Kitt, Evelyn Thomas anf Break Machine. Their first "big" hit was the track SO MANY MEN SO LITTLE TIME by singer MIQUEL BROWN - It was a phenomenal worldwide sucess. This was later followed by the bigger selling HINRG anthem HIGH ENERGY by Evelyn Thomas.. Other HINRG hits followed by artists such as 7th Avenue, Laura Pallas, Eartha Kitt, Marsha Raven and artists such as Eastbound Expressway, Earlene Bentley and Carol Jiani. The label survived until 1986.

Record Shack actually started off as a London record store run by Jeff Weston. In '82/'83, they stared to record, with Ian Levine being the main driving force. Most of the releases were of the HINRG genre but they did have some non-hinrg hits.

The biggest hit (selling wise) was 'High Energy', Evelyn Thomas. They got Break Machines 4 hits, but only 2 went UK top 20. The majority of the artist roster was HINRG.
Earlene Bentley, Miquel Brown, Seventh Avenue, Eartha Kitt,
Eastbound Expressway, Laura Pallas. Many reached the Top 75
but not many dented the Top 40.
