Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there an awful release called I'm A Model (Clare?), Mr Telephone Man & another called Something Abut Love (Jerome?) all on Record Shack?

I used to have white labels of each and seem to recall the SOHOT moniker

That's it Neil - god awful if remember rightly

That Jerome track was on Calibre (1984) and was called Something To Say About Love. Not a bad tune actually.

and jut found out the other was Cheyne - Call Me Mr Telephone Man (1985) on MCA.

The wonder of google eh! ;)

Love that Shy Rose tune! Dance record of the year in Ibiza

The more I think of that Cheyne track, the more I reckon you'd rate it Neil!

Plumped for Close To Perfection. Would have liked to have seen Living My Own Life in there as that's my fave out of the three Earlene Bentley tracks. Personal faves on the label in addition to those two were Ashaye - Electricity, Cerrone - Where Are You Now and Do Piano - Again. Never knew they licensed Shy Rose, so can add that one as a fave as well

That DO PIANO track is a corker (love the remix too).
that earlene bentley track is another RECORD SHACK anthem but IMO I prefer the US remix.

Although better known on US Spring, Fantasy's - He's Number One has gotta be up there too

Still love that tune.

Caught In The Act was such a storming track!

Looking back it was the equivalent of a DJ now playing House music, then dropping a Techno tune!!

It whipped-up the dance floor into a frenzy, full-on relentless beat, with that middle section which went on for ever.

Still love it, especially on my multi-coloured vinyl from Germany

I keep meaning to get hold of that multi- coloured vinyl myself, seen it on e-bay a few times. My copy is Dutch and has Earlene on the front looking very camp in a bright red feather Boa

Just discovered this thread.

Ian Levine's production skills (along with the help Fiachra Trench gave him) were awesome - I love most of the stuff he did for the label.

As for the licenced stuff - I LOVE Valerie Claire 'I'm A Model' !
Among licenced tracks - Les Lee 'I'm the one you want' (AKA Taylor Dayne) and Fantasy 'Number One' were great. As was Do Piano 'Again'.

Oh Lord! I'm the only one who for "Stranger In Disguise"! <sigh>
I guess I loved the earlier Ian Levine stuff, before it all got so duplicative.

But my fave Record Shack record is ASHAYE's "Electricity".

I've just about completed a definitive Record Shack discography. The ones i've found online are incomplete and contain errors.

I've also done a more detailed discography that includes tracklistings too - that was made harder by the fact that some releases had different tracks for different pressings (eg. 2 separate pressings for Do Piano, 7th Avenue 'loves gone mad')!

also....in the poll....knock me senseless came out on 'passion' - not record shack !!
