She Has A Way & Native Love.

BTW, I saw Divine perform live in the mid-80's in Seattle, WA. He was an hour late, arriving when people were ready to walk out. But once he started, everyone loved him. He sang to actual vinyl records. They weren't backing tracks. They were the actual vinyl with vocals. I sat up in the balcony and saw the dj spinning the records.

Divine's real strength was talking in between the songs. He told Nancy Reagan jokes and was really funny. And during the concert, groupies surrounded the stage with albums for him to sign. They actually tried to hand him the records while he performed. Expecting him to stop everything and sign them. He kept barking out, "Later!" It was a wild night.

Native Love!
This song was a huge impact on my musical tastes at the time. The Club I was going to was into slower funkier stuff. I really wasn't into that funk but I could deal with it. They were doing a couples dance contest there one night and we all had to dance to the same plodding Tom Tom Club tune. One of the club's GoGo boys and a girl buddy of his employed at the club got them to change the song (for their performance only) to Native Love. The song was so electrifying by contrast to what they usually played. I was so taken by the tune that I didn't get rightfully outraged at the time: the guy was an employee and he got a different song than everyone else! Now I feel the rage.
Anyway,we placed third.
I saw Divine when she played Minneapolis on Feb.14, 1982.
Native Love was brand new and she was promoting it along with T shirts and Tight Blue Jeans. I was a more refined groupie I guess because I waited in the reception line after the performance for an autograph and a kiss on the cheek. Particularly remember the razor stubble on her back.
