| i'm sure this is old news to some people, but i just came across an online radio station that plays nothing but vintage italo/euro/nrg: http://www.radiostaddenhaag.nl/ the website is entirely in dutch, but it's easy to find the real player or windows button and push it. the station IDs and commercials, which are all of course in dutch, sound retro as well and waaaaay campy. i've been listening to it this afternoon, and have heard records that were big in the american gay clubs (joe yellow's italo classic "lover to lover," for example, which was massive at the saint), as well as many tracks that are completely unknown to me. it would be great if a dutch speaker/reader could check it out and elaborate. i'm guessing they're playing commercials created in the '80s to heighten that flashback feeling. thanks! |

| This online radio station is from my hometown. They started in the early 80's as an illegal fm radio station. There were a lot off these so called pirate radio stations at that time,in this region. Most off them had a broadcasting range that didden't reach any futher than the city itself. Unfortunately they where taken out off the air all of the time by the Radio controle service, because of the commercials that they where broadcasting, and because they disturded normal radio traffic.Because of this they gave up broadcasting in 1986,leaving a large group off fans in despair. Nowerdays they only have nonstop programs,[which become a bit predictable after a while, because they allways use the same playlists],and yes indeed, those commercials that you hear are the same ones they just in the 80's.They also had spoken word programs aswell, like a disco top 50,every Saturday, and a special Italo show and more. Nowerdays they have a large group off listeners from back then and all over the world, thanks to the world wide web. If you would like to listen too a wider range of 80's music, than I can highly recommend you to try the link below, which is from an online station from the same area, that plays a lot of Disco,Italo,Electro, early House and much more. |
