Why was "videobuff" suspended from You Tube?

I'm aware of those attacks. But his channel is suspended. If he had quit his account would have been called "closed". So there definitely must be something else other than the personal harassments. Just a guess.

And o not forget the "Comisky Gang". Fellow member Jimmy M already informed me on the fact that there's a group of users who is strongly opposed to Disco and 70's nostalgia on the tube.

Maybe it's a combination of all those factors.

seems odd that his channel has been suspended after not being updated for a year?

wouldn't surprise me if his 'attacker' is behind this. I rather doubt its copyright infringement - as youtube will always request a track is removed before suspending a channel - which is always a last resort.

Oh it works. Maybe not for EVERY single copyrighted piece, but many. I've uploaded videos and have had them automatically rejected because youtube has a program that recognizes the copyrighted waveforms.

I did a test; I uploaded a video and named/described it as "null" and it recognized the tune. I then did another test; I uploaded the same copyright-recognized song but it was in a MIX, not on its own.

So Youtube has paid big bucks to have instant-recognition software, and rightfully so as they are partnering up with WMG / Atlantic / etc. record groups to keep the music from coming up on their page.

I've started up on VIMEO's website for any videos that are rejected by YouTube, so at least my channel will stay alive and the music will keep playing.

Disco lives on !!!!

ps - i used to be 'discorecords' on youtube but i was being harassed and threatened by YT so i started up a new channel under 'ourvinylcollection'.

No, suspension is not a last resort. I've had at least 4 YouTube friends now have their channels suspended without previous warning.

I've had warnings issued to my channel also but I have all my videos (in WMV format) backed up in case they scrap my channel.

This so-called 'attacker' may have been flagging his videos, but not as being copyright issues.

Poor videobuff. Still, there are other great youtubers like:

yes, it's odd why some people are suspended and others are not. I have my own channel on the tube but I only favorit vids. Haven't uploaded any so I don't know how accurate their "copyright-hunter" is.

For the record, I don't know who "Videobuff" is, but I checked out his excellent channel frequently. I know the trouble Jimmy M already had with the Tube.

And for the daredevils amongst you. You want a meet and greet with Prince's lawyers? Just post a personal movie and as a soundtrack add a song from him. It usually only takes 12 hrs. before you are contacted by his lawyers

And what about the news that YT is about to change in a pay-channel? You will have to pay a small fee to watch vids!?!
