| yes, I threatened to leave negative feedback on ebay if he did not refund my money. Can you blame me? After I received a cheap looking CD-R with ink smudges on it. And I paid $24 expecting a Factory Pressed cd. And I waited patiently for a month to get it, because he said they were out of stock. Can you blame me for threatening with negative feedback? Here is one of his auctions. Where does it say that it's a CD-R???????? Tell me!!!!!!!!! SISLEY FERRE BEST OF CD VOL:2 INCL; SIGN&NUMB#045"RARE" - (eBay item 200156930341 end time Oct-03-07 17:50:59 PDT) This guy misleads people, and is a dishonest person. I got no refund from him either for a smudged CD-R, not even a partial refund. No decency at all in this person |

But for $24 I expect a well packaged product, not a smudged CD-R. I don't know, maybe it's crazy to expect high quality when you pay $24 for a new cd, and not some half-baked CD-R!!? This guy is a liar and at prices that he sells, a real thief. #### ASK someone who has that CD to just BURN you a copy. Don't waste your money buying over-priced CD-R's from this lying looser. And don't be mislead by his auction description |

| The sound on this CD is not just OK, it is better than CD quality! In today's market this CD is really cheap! To get all of these songs in their extended versions, you would have to buy many European CDs which would contain only one song at best. You would spend several hundreds of dollars trying to duplicate this collection. Many European releases containing extended versions of dance music easily sell for $20 or more. The weakness in the U.S. dollar makes matters even worse. If the CDR format bothers you, I would advise you not to buy Almighty Records CDs. They also use CDRs, not factory sealed pressings. The quality of their recordings are also outstanding. I would also stay away from promotional CDs as many record companies issues promo CDs in the CDR format. As Hotsound Records has already stated, their customers, including myself, are extremely satisfied with their product. I think it is very sad that instead of focusing on the quality of the music, you've chosen to base your opinion of this release on how the CDR looks. |

| I have to agree with Ken also. It's the music I wanted and was quite happy with the packaging. If invisibleman just took a bit of time and thought more about the time it probably took to remaster all the tracks digitally then $24 is more than worth it. In fact thanks for pointing me to the Volume 2 as it contains her version of The Deep which I don't have on cd, so will be making a purchase of that now. Invisibleman , yes it doesn't say in the advert that it is a Cdr but it also does not say it is a factory produced cd either, so you can't accuse him of false advertising. The advert says "This is an original and official Hot Music Holding BV release on Hot Sound Records HS 0602 cd" and as Ken states the sound quality is impeccable, so the only gripe really that I can see you have is that the cover is smudged. I'm sure if you could have handled the situation sensibly and asked for a replacement cover rather than leaving negative feedback on Ebay and slating Erik on here. I'd also like to point out as well as the Best of Sisley Ferre & Best of Hotsound cds I bought from Erik, I also bought many Hot Tracks & Disconet from him on Ebay and always found him friendly and most helpful. |

| Ken & Andy: So you're happy that your CD-R copy has an expotentially greater chance than a pressed CD of being a frisbee in a few years time???? I'm with invisible man on this after having bought several CD-R copies of material in good faith. IF an item is CD-R it should be clearly stated by the seller, as it is patently obvious that CD-Rs are of inferior quality to pressed CDs when applying most of the criteria that can be applied to them and should therefore be sold at discounted prices. |

| I can understand that you could be miffed by the fact that you were unaware that you were buying a CD-R but it is hard to find original C.D.'s in perfect condition so If you are a serious fan of Miss Ferre than I suggest you should be greatful that Formula_Hot has made Sisley Ferre's material available. other forum members seem happy with the CD-R and I am now on the way to finding Formula_Hot for myself so that I too can get a copy Thanks for the info guys |

| Quinny - The CDR that Hot Sound Records provided me is a higher grade CDR that is used by professional recording studios and has a longer shelf life than a store bought variety. One could also make back-up copies of the CDR using higher grade store bought brands. The sound on this CDR is better than a factory pressed one and approaches a "direct to disc" sound quality. |

| Quinny, I'm happy to have the Sisley tracks on cd as to get hold of them in this format is near on impossible as I stated previously. They were only ever available on a limited press cd from around 1989 when it was still a new format so finding a copy is pretty rare, and you'd pay a lot more than $24 for a copy of it. I don't feel Erik has misled anyone, as he states they are a limited edition direct from Hotsound Studios which these are, and as Fabba points out finding tracks like these on fully pressed cds is near on impossible. My point to Invisible Man is that if you're not happy with a purchase you've made go back to the person you bought it off and try and make an amicable settlement which I'm sure Erik would have done. Don't go on a public forum slating the person who actually made the music you are buying off them calling them names like 'dirtbag' 'thief' 'liar' etc etc. Totally uncalled for. |

One of the reasons I packed up being a sound recording engineer was my inability to trust CD-R as a long-term media and the knowledge that CD-R duplication was always going to be a price driven industry with relative inexperienced operators winning a lot of the business merely on price and lots of promises. I could see that I wouldn't be able to compete with that and to be honest I didn't want to. To be fair, the quality of CD-R has improved over the years BUT be sure on one thing....CD-Rs are produced by people who merely want the cheapest deal for their product, NOT quality. I, for one, cannot take such people seriously. |

Perhaps these people have no intention of ripping people off and just want to find the most cost effective way of getting this music back out. and if this is the case then rather the cheap alternative than nothing at all |

| Much like pressing vinyl, it only makes sense to have aluminum CDs pressed if you're going to be selling at least a couple hundred copies. Otherwise you're looking at a cost of $50 per CD or more, which at that price would mean that they wouldn't get pressed at all. While I of course prefer aluminum discs to CDRs, I'd much rather have a CDR with decent sound quality than a pretty aluminum disc made from a piss-poor needle drop... and I have quite a few of those. |

| Quinny - The next question is how long will the average CDR last? One could always copy CDRs to a computer hard drive. What about transfering a CDR to a multi layered DVD? Perhaps a new technology will be discovered in the coming years which will prolong the life of music indefinitely. I guess the bottom line is to enjoy the music while it lasts. |
