Default Underground Club Music

Is anyone out there seriously into this type of dance music? If so, I'd like some input on both the American and UK scenes, please.

Reason I'm asking is that I recently received some promo imports and they were grouped under the name "UK UNDERGROUND BEATS". I was more than a little disappointed by several aspects:

1) lack of melodic structure (what else is new :o )
2) lack of vocals (about 90% or more are instrumentals)
3) that higher tempo, 128+ bpm's, 'techno' feel.

The bulk of the Underground I've been getting in the US feels totally different. Tempos hang around the mid-120's and always a good mix of vocals with the instrumentals. The music takes on more of a jazz feel, softening that club edge but maintaining that 4/4 for dance. And thankfully, a good percent of the time the melody, if they had one to begin with, is allowed to remain. I also find a good amount of the "underground" here is more a remix style on a pop or club song.

Here's a list of my November promos for both UK and US. If you know the groups, then you could get a sense of what I mean.

UK
Dance for Me - Kenny Hawkes
Do What You Wanna - Kidstuff
E.L.L.I.E. - Lee Kavanaugh ft. Lauren
All I Want (Is the Bass) - Steve Thomas
Iman - Southman
Or What! - NDSA
Break the Limit - Blue Amazon
Be the One - Dimension
Heavy Vinyl - Skinny Monkey

US
What You Mean to Me - Range of Motion ft. Tanja Dixon
Rock Wit U - Erro
Heat - Johnick
On a High - Duncan Sheik
Only You - DJ Jori ft. Gary Pinto 8)
Searchin' - Nicole J. McCloud 8) (This is Nicole of Don't You Want My Love fame)
Alive - Alive ft. D. D. Klein
Surrender - Laura Pausini
Come Along - Titiyo

There are a couple of songs on the US list that could be moved into the UK, but I can't find one to do the reverse.

So, those in the know, what's it really like here in the USA and in the UK? Do these lists accurately represent the current style of Underground here and overseas?

I like the "Alive" song. The version I've heard has sort of a disco/house flavor to it.

I've also heard the Nicole J. McCloud and Laura Pausini songs. They're ok. They don't blow me away.
