I laughed yesterday when I read the (English & German) description of HI NRG music on 80er | 80s HI NRG / High Energy Disco & Sound. It says that high energy music generally consists of "a few hooks which are performed by disembodied and invisible vocalists who moan in the background". I didn't know that.

Thst is a very funny description.. Cant say I have that many HINRG tracks where these "invisible" artists moan...

hello guys

i think italo was made in particular for dancing they aren.t intersted in lyrics you will hear alot of crap lyrics but the music itself is really great , another stupid lyrics is marx & spencer - stay , but i have to admit thise is really outstanding catchy and rythmic tune . there is very few italo track who have good lyrics

I agree with you 100%. By the way, "StAY" is one of my favourite Italo tracks, especially the Matis Remix (zxx), which has some vocoder parts, and it was hard to track down a physical copy of it. I bought it for the melody and the vocoder mix. Well, the vocoder distorts the voice and the lyrics in such a way that one doesn't understand what they're singing anyway. After I read your post, I dug out the D-Version (on the Discomagic pressing) and listened to the track and now I am not sure if I understood it right: "People stay, just a little bit longer...now the promoter don't mind..." IS THIS WHAT THEY SING? -- I am not so sure about the words, I'm not a native speaker, haha.)

"Shooting Star (Six Times)" by Roy is another good example for an Italo track with "outstanding" lyrics:

Thanks for posting these fabulous lyrics, gorman. I enjoyed reading the words of "Colour My Love." When I started reading the text it was silent in my room, and then...when I got to the second or third line, the melody of "CML" started playing in my head and the two Fun Funs appeared in front of my "inner eye". Weird. I am sure we'd find many, many more of these lyrics if we went through our collection of 80's Italo tracks and listened closely to the lyrics. :) Is there a competition or an award for the "best" or "worst" lyrics in Italo songs? I wonder who would win.
