Default Tower Records going insane?

anyone look at their web site recently? I was just browsing it and noticed they've started to list several titles list price (example: "Love Session" by Silk) at $18.99 and then list Tower's sale price at $18.98, proudly pointing out the fact that you save $.001. What is this, payback for their impending bankruptcy and going out of business sale? And it's not just one title but several listed at these prices. And they're not always even recently released recordings! What are they thinking? A joke, maybe? Seems to me that when thousands of their employees are unemployed the joke won't be so funny.....

I would imagine that as they are currently undergoing liquidation, nobody is updating the website.

I know with cetain chain electronic stores the ending cent amount let the salesperson know if it was clearance, open box, or sale item. Like all items that were blank dollars and 96 cents were customer returns that were being resold as open box.

These big music stores are struggling now. They cant compete with internet shopping. At one time I always bought my Cds from HMV but i refuse to pay their prices now - you can shop so much cheaper online.

Default Tears for Tower Records

It's really sad to lose Tower, an icon of music retailing.

I have fond memories of my first record from tower, carried out of the store in a yellow paper bag with the big red Tower logo on it. Much more recently, I got the Madonna album "Confessions on a Dance Floor" on pink vinyl at Tower! Over the years I've bought lot's of CDs from Tower and Tower.com too. I will miss them.

Shopping online really does broaden a customer's options.

HMV in Canada is as notoriously high priced as it is in the UK. The stores are half DVDs now too, so the CD selection is much more limited than back in the day. Digital is probably hurting traditional bricks and mortar music retailers too.
