Default Magazine 60 - "Don Quichotte"

Do you guys remember this French outfit? This song was probably THE LAST great disco single for me in the 80's (1985). For me, this song was the last defining euro classic before disco lost its luster. This song always makes me laugh when I pull it out for a listen, from the telephone dialogue to the Spanish melody. They had another song from the same album which wasn't as good called "Pancho Villa" but the rest of the songs were all garbage.

- Hello, can I speak to mister Don Quichotte, please ?
- No señor, Don Quixote y Sancho Panza no estan aqui !

This fab record has been included in a number of Italodisco comps so perhaps it's actually of Italian origin - ?

No kiddin', for some reason I've always thought they were French. I guess I'll have to think of them as part of the Italodisco movement.

Jean Luc Drion is a FRENCH producer who is responsible for production of Magazin 60 and Monte Kristo. This song Don Quichotte is however relesed in Italy for Many records in '85.

This track was HUGE in France, which may be why you thought it was of French origin...it was also released in the UK ( a rare feat for a Eurohit!), on RCA Records, but was sadly overlooked. The other track I remember from the group is "Rendezvous Sur La Costa Del Sol" which was another big club hit in France x

Wow! Someone else that like this song!! Love the female voice on the phonecall (she sounds REALLY p***ed off before she hangs up!)
Another song i associate with "Don Quichotte" is something from 1989-I had stopped dancing by then but this song was HUGE here in Toronto:

"Que Te Pasa" by Click (a.k.a. "Click 2")- Really Euro, Very Disco, Silly lyrics, Just a fun, party song!! I think it was a Canadian production, flopped, got popular in Mexico, then became popular here...

play Don Quichotte then Que Te Pasa and you'll see what i mean...

I was just listening to that song the other day :)

It was popular in its day in the HiNRG clubs and parties here in LA.

LOL, I love the nonsensical spanish jargon throughout the song, especially the part where she sings "baila burriquito" (dance, little donkey). :D :D

It's a shame they don't make stuff like this anymore.
