If my memory serves me right it was released in 1982 on the DANCE-SING label.
On one side there is the I NEED A MAN [an original song - and not a Grace Jones/Man 2 Man cover] single mix then on the flip there is the I NEED A MAN...MEN HUNGRY mix from DISCONET.Soundwise it is all over the place from Giorgio Moroder/Patrick Cowley synths to tribal drumming + 2 pots & pans breaks. It is a great song.
Imagine GIORGIO + BOBBY "O" + KRAFTWERK + a female singer sounding a bit like BOYSTOWN GANG's CYNTHIA MANLEY.

The lyrics are something like "They say that I'm a tease -they say that I'm a whore...I need a man - That's what I'm living for."

With the MEN HUNGRY break added it lasts 8 minutes.

That LAMA track seems to be very difficult to track down nowadays.. I keep an eye out for it on ebay etc. Is the remix much different from the original?

No, not much different, but longer and a bit better than the original version. I do like both versions.

Almighty issued a cover version of this track last year as an anthem and energised mix. The energised version is O.K. - not bad. Belle Lawrence provided the vocals on that track.

Marx & Spencer have to be held to account for what is possibly the worst "hi-nrg" cover version of ALL time. Their massacre of Genesis Follow You Follow Me is truely horrendous! If I never hear it again, it'll be too soon!

Totally agree. Their cover version of Follow You Follow Me is disgusting.
I am also not impressed by the silly lyrics of "Stay" - but I like the melody and the vocoder effects on the remix version.
