Patrick Cowley - Megatron Man

1981 waaaaaay ahead of its time and sounding like nothing else around at that time.

20 years later and it'd have been called Trance!

Interesting, I payed this as part of a classic Hi nrg set in Marbella a few years a go. it got a great dancefloor response, and younger folk coming up to the decks to find out what the tune was.

I agree, 'I feel love' does it. As a genre though, the Boystown Gang 'Can't take my eyes off you' broke out in 1982, went top 10 and made many more people aware of the Boystown/Hinrg genre.

Hi dave.. Gotta agree - Boystown gang "cant take.." has goota be one of the most important/influencial tracks early on in the genre

Hey guys, if you're gonna mention Boystown Gang you may as well go the whole hog and plump for The Village People - YMCA / Go West / In The Navy as starting the whole ball rolling with "gay orientated dance music"

*shudders*

...and "Menergy." Virtually all the stuff Cowley produced. He was the one who made a step in the right/hi nrg direction.

I would also like to add Hazel Dean's Searchin' ("energy master" I. A. S.).

I would also say I FEEL LOVE.
Donna Summer's timeless opus was already THE perfect HiNRG/disco hybrid back in 1977.

From her icy diva phrasing to the electronic backing and Giorgio's exceptional production.
Patrick Cowley's mega remix 5 years later ; only made it even hotter.

15 minutes of pure bliss !!
