At 62 , she is the face of MAC make-up.

When one of the hosts commented on how flawless she looks ; she said ; "It takes me 4 hours to look like this...".
The host took it as a joke ; RAQUEL went : "No I'm serious...4 hours".

She looked fabulous.
Its a pity we do not see more of her in the movies & on TV. THIS GIRLS BACK IN TOWN was a strong track and I am sure she could have had some more success if she had continued with the music

The last thing I saw Raquel in was Legally Blonde. And she had a mud pack on her face.

: )

I'm surprised Raquel waited so long to put out a dance record. Why not in 1979 like Ann-Margret? I'm sure Euro-producers would have lined up to work with her.

Which makes me think of another contender for all-time camp:

Young Dudes b/w Queen Of Pleasure 12" single by Mamie Van Doren (Rhino Records, 1986.) You've got to hear it to believe it. Great/awful spoken bits. Inspired/contrived. Sexy/embarrassing. Hip/dated. A real train wreck of a record. I love it.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned "I Eat Cannibals" (Total Coelo)

"All I wanna do
Is make a meal of you
We all want to eat
You're my kind of meat..."

"Eat me, eat you, incredibly delicious too,
Gourmet, flammbe, serve you up an entree,
Intake, home bake, you're the icing on the cake,
Full up, can't stop, biting on a chop-chop..."

They just don't write 'em like that anymore.

Surely Eddy Huntington's Meet my friend deserves a mention...
''He's so much fun and is always ready for action
meet my friend,he knows every little trick,
meet my friend called dick''

Yep definitely at the top of the pile!!!

"He played me the flute in his blue bathing suit by the bay
We drank rum and coco in Uh-Oh Cho Rios
I tried to ignore his muscles galore each day

Hey looking for something?
You see I played it cool, i lay by the pool in red
He sent me a cheap vulgar note, I went out on his boat
Mind you just to see the view
That's one thing a good girl doesn't do"

"hung like a mule, oh what a tool had he
He rupped off my mu mu, in Ocho Rios
He took me hard and fast, I prayed that it would last for meeeeeeeeee!!!"

camp??? nah

I suppose if that's what defines "camp", then Jet Boy, Jet Girl and Johnny Are You Queer would have to be on the list

I don't mean to be pedantic but camp seems to mean different things to different people here. I always thought that it means unintentionally crap or knowingly humourous while alot of people think it means explicitly homoerotic. If we assume it's the former then 'Police Woman' by Lorna Wright is my choice, whilst if it's the latter then 'Cruising The Streets' by Boystown Gang is my choice.

I remember being in a club and the DJ played VICKI SHEPARD's "BRING ON THE BOYS" [The Dorothy Latex Mix] [which is a vocal version of ROFO'S THEME].

After he heard the song and the lines:

"The boys in their leather, the excitement of their uniform,A little taste of rubber & latex, makes me wanna sweat. All those sizequeens you know they check out those tight jeans..."

Hmmmm you said camp ?!?!?!?

He then put the record back in the cheesy jacket and gave it to me...
Been playing it ever since !!!

I have not seen anyone mention Policewoman before. I saw her perform that in Bournemouth (of all places) when it came out and I rushed out and bought the 12". I never heard it in a club again! I must dig it out and play it, whenever I see it in my collection I cringe. To me the campest record is It's Raining Men by the Weather Girls, I never think of camp as explicity homoerotic. Just my take.

Why do you cringe? I think that's a really under-rated record. I'm sure that given the right exposure it would've been a big pop crossover. 'I use my sex to intimidate & take out my anger on the nation'; genius!

Actually, the definition of "camp" is something that was intended to be serious, but ends-up funny. (Think "Valley of The Dolls", or "Mommy Dearest")

To that end, I'll agree, wholeheartedly, with "Police Woman - Queen of the Neon Jungle". MDM/Virgin UK sent a few copies of the single to the record pools in the states. And I was, oh so, fortunate to have received one. Listen to it. They were serious about that recording being "sultry", and it's a friggin' scream!

"I can get away with blue murder" What the hell is "blue murder"???

I'll add to the list (if no one has, already), Gina Lamour's "The Continental".
