Energyguy Thanks for the link. That track is actually very good and is a firm favourite of mine - I managed to track down the 12" on e-bay a couple of years ago.

I bought the 12" when it first came out. I liked Raquel's spoken intro: "I've been going through some changes..." Did you get the 12" with the picture cover (with a flawless Raquel looking out the car window?)

I only recently discover this music video (never knew she made one to this song.) So the video was kind of like seeing her record cover come to life. What do you think of that scene in the video where the paparazzi opens the door to her limo, and Raquel is on her back and lets her head and shoulders fall back toward the pavement? What a shamelessly over-the-top moment. I loved it!

Do you think she recorded any other cuts for an unreleased album?

Francejolifan - I have to say that every time I see your photo I think of Pete Tong. (UK Dance DJ)

Hi there
I love the Raquel track - good euro dancer. The video is really good and she looks superb. She reminds me of the old style 1940s type of actreses in that video - the glamour, poses etc..
I have not heard any other tracks by her.. presumably it was a "one off". It was not a hit here in the UK but I believe it was a biggie in Europe at the time. Its a pity she did not release any other material.

It was thanks to Tongy, Paul Oakenfold & Danny Rampling that House music came to the UK, in the way that it did. (After the 4 of them paid a blissed-out visit to Ibiza in 1986, and after dropping Ecstasy for the first time, finally understood the music. They bought the vibe back and recreated it here, with clubs such as Shooom etc. That whole Balearic sound was lapped up by the disaffected youth of the late 80's, mutated into House & all its variants and here we are today......................praise the lord)

Lana Pellay is till around and can be spotted on the TV occasionally. I think she's more Alan these days.

I've always thought The Immortals 'Ultimate Warlord" was camp in a very butch way.

However, I think you have to go a long way to beat Divine for the campest disco records of all time. 'Native Love' and 'You Think You're A Man' and especially 'Walk Like A Man' are hard to top. Someones already mentioned Ethel Merman "There's No Business Like Show Business' and I think thats a definate contender.
A long forgotton one is UK ex Drag act and now top TV (ho ho double joke !) star Lily Savage singing (maybe thats not the right word) like a hairy arsed Vernons Girl on 'Tough At The Top' on Ian Levine's Nightmare label. And how about Eric Roberts "Outragous" Nightmare Gold? Outragous indeed.

I'll do an Internet search on Tong. Sounds interesting.

Wasn't there an awful "disco" record called I'm Your AC/DC Man? Can't remember the group but can clearly see the label Aurum or sommat similar.

WOW ! Some camp classics listed there, Simon. I have that ERIC ROBERTS track on the NIGHTMARE GOLD label - It IS very OTT ! I agree that DIVINE probably wins hands down when it comes to the most camp tracks - those are hard to beat

I agree. As soon as I saw 'campest record of all time', Oo-oo-cho Rios came to mind! Isn't it wonderful that Paul Jabara was able to beautifully create these songs that conjured up his playful mind....and left us with his musical memories.

Just saw RAQUEL last week on a talk show ; she is as gorgeous as ever.
At 62 , she is the face of MAC make-up.

When one of the hosts commented on how flawless she looks ; she said ; "It takes me 4 hours to look like this...".
The host took it as a joke ; RAQUEL went : "No I'm serious...4 hours".

She looked fabulous.
