Sister Sledge track - Hi Nrg ?

Hi guys... Just been looking through some old Record Mirror HINRG charts from 86/87 - I noticed a SISTER SLEDGE track listed called HERE TO STAY (EMI 12") - I don`t remember this at all... Was it any good ?

wasn't a great tune. Think it was remixed by Ian Levine but not sure about that

I used to listen to a radio DJ once a week who broadcast from Wolverhampton near where I lived at the time and played all the tracks that I only ever heard in a gay club (like Hills of Katmandu and Lime). He used to often play "He's Just a Runaway" (the original version) by Sister Sledge. I loved it but never heard it anywhere else.

yep - Like those awful Bananrama remixes "Venus" + "More than Physical" - Bloody terrible.. For some reason he always seems to out that awful "RAT, TAT, TAT" sound in the background...

In fairness though, Ian did give us some absolute Hi Nrg classics, aswell as the stunning "24hrs a day" one of the greatest disco records ever. I think that with Ian's work you have to really sift through , there is gold amongst the garbage.

I'll second that, I actually like quite a few of Ian Levine's productions and many of his remixes that seem unpopular here (i.e. Kiki Dee "Another Day Comes, Another Day Goes" or Bananarama "More Than Physical")

I agree totally. Please don`t misunderstand me.. I admire his work over the years and you cannot deny he had a big impact on both the disco + HI-NRG scenes. Some of his 70s disco work with Pennington/Wells/Thomas is out of this world. His HI-NRG projecys with RECORD SHACK were top class 8)

Hi toto. That wouldn't be Tony De Vit when he did a show for Beacon Radio would it? I used to hear loads of hi-nrg stuff on his show (I had to hold the aerial on the tuner all through the show to keep the reception OK being in Stoke!! :lol: )

KISS FM did a good HINRG stint on friday evenings in the mid nineties. They played both old + modern HI-NRG.. It was a great "soundtrack" to listen to when getting ready to go out for the evening... 8)
