So yall just let ma man Teddy hang out to dry huh! I even let him ride for 2 weeks and no takers. What up! Are you guys still bitter about that little tranvestite in car accident thing?
Anyway, enough bitchin'. Let's see, how about "Change" this week. I love Searching and This For the Best in You. I'll take Searching because I jammed to this in the ride on my way to a party or club.

Yeah, I didn't get the blanket dismissal of Teddy Pendergrass, either. All you R&B/funkster types don't care for Teddy Bear????

Anyway, as far as Change goes:

"Searching" & "The Glow Of Love" are my choices. Actually, either of those could have been substituted for the maligned "One Way Ticket" at our "party".

"Searching" gets my vote too.

But "A Lover's Holiday" was HUGE here (and everywhere, I suppose), and the line about "pitch black city" got chanted on local dance floors as "Pittsburgh city."

Yeah, I know that's lame. But the Village People, etc., never sang about Pittsburgh, did they now? So you take your thrills where you can get 'em.

Well,
Although Change is pretty much Jaques Fred Petrus (like Costandinos being Love And Kisses, etc..) I could say that Change was he weakist alias but.. I will give my 3 faves:

The End
A Girls Affair (sounds exactly like 1979 Its Dancin' Time under his Revanche name, gotta love it)
Hold Tight

When I first heard "The Glow Of Love", I thought it was Chic. It wasn't until years later I learned that it was Change, the same group that did "Lover's Holiday". "The Glow Of Love" I remember hearing on the bus going to a museum on a class trip in high school. I had on WBLS (I think), and that's when I heard it for the first time. This was around 1990-91.

I love "A Lover's Holiday". Plus "Paradise" too.

This is, in order of favorite, my list of Change:

Title (year) (how well it did over here)

A lover's holiday (80) (5/5)
Searching (80) (4/5)
Paradise (81) (5/5)
Change of heart (84) (1/5)
The end (80) (1/5)
The glow of love (80) (3/5)

I've got another one:

"Magical Night" by Change (a Polydor import from 1983).

Don't remember this getting much play, but it's real good.

Anyone recall this one?

My favorite songs from Change have ALWAYS been:

1. THE GLOW OF LOVE
2. SEARCHING

Paul I was also suprised that Teddy's thread didn't get that many responses. I assumed that there were a lot of Teddy fans here....I assumed wrong.

Luther was great with this group. They kept him out of that "mood" he's always in on his solo lp's. Anyway, my list of faves are:

1) Searching
2) The Glow of Love
3) Hold Tight
4) Paradise
5) Let's Go Together

I could never get the crowd into # 5. Did I care --- hell no. THIS ONE'S FOR ME!

So Nicky, you were another one of those DJs that forced us to listen to your music huh
I like your point about Luther's style since becoming solo. I guess he prefered singing with getting laid in mind.

Yeah, what is it with Luther and those s--l--o--w--w--w- tempos at which he prefers to record most of his recent stuff????

I haven't listened to the last one yet. BUT, for a while there, his music tempos were like molasses or, better yet, Heinz ketchup barely moving out of the bottle.

I don't know, but it's one of the reasons I haven't purchased his last (two?) albums. All these complicated arrangements he strives for just don't come across as that 'dynamic', even with his exceptional vocal skills. He should really try the 'less is more' approach once in a while. His style hasn't changed since the "Never Too Much" release. That was a loooong time ago.
