Default Listening to 80's group: DAF

Hello Guys... :) Just the other day a good friend of mine turned me on for the first time to the music of DAF. Unfamiliar with mid and late 80s disco music, the group's sound was new to me! I really liked what I heard~Was this style of music popular in the clubs back then? Also, are there any other similar sounding groups for me to discover? Any CDs I should look into? Thanks so much! I have a kind of greatest hits album from DAF called "Hitz Blitz" from 1989. You might check this out. If you can find the 12" to "Brothers", buy it. It is phenomenal.

Other artists in this mode you might try are:

Nitzer Ebb
Nena Hagen
Cabaret Voltaire
Sharpe and Numan

D.A.F., or Deutsch-Amerikanische Freundshaft (Robert Görl and Gabi Delgado), were very popular in Europe with their pumpin' New Wave sounds or better Neue Deutsche Welle.

Initially they were very controversial because of their song "Tanz der Mussolini" for wich they were branded as neo-nazis. "Brothers" is indeed one of their other highlights just as the gay inspired track "Der rauber und der prinz".

If you want more stuff like that, check out the following cd's:
