Default What do you think of Atlantic Starr?

I love this band, all cuts unashamedly from the ballads to the uptempo dance classics. I think the lead singer Sharon Bryant has tremendous vocals. My favourites are "Circles", "Silver Shadow", "Love me down" etc etc. Is anyone else feeling this band?

I always had a soft-spot for 'Touch a 4 Leaf Clover' from '83. Very classy. 8)

Overall, I liked this band. When Love Call and Send For Me are among my favorites.
Towards the middle of the 80s I grew tired of whiney 80s ballad sound they were also doing. I did like Secret Lovers though. Sorry to digress here but Steve Harvey and Cedric the Entertainer did a funny bit with Secret Lovers on Steve Harvey. Seeing those 2 guys singing that song to each other had me dying

for me its a bit to much commercial pop
and a bit too little groove

It is a bit to "Boltonish"

like Nothings gonna change my love is a bit corny :x

But some cuts are ok I guess....

Default I have always (and still do) confuse Atlantic Starr with

another band, called Starpoint. But one of those bands did a slammin' song called "Freak-a-Ristic"

Atlantic Starr had an awesome album called "Straight To The Point" from 1979 with a killer 1st side - Let's Rock/Kissin' Power/Let The Spirit Move Ya" great disco funk long abandoned in favor of commercialism and $$$$$$

Yeah great tarck, i feel the house'd up version didnt add any more to the original. Or perhaps that was the point. Circles is a sure fire winner.

The beautiful 'When Love Calls' is the one song that always comes to mind whenever Atlantic Starr are mentioned. Shame Sharon Bryant never made it as a solo artist, supposedly she rejected material submitted by Jam & Lewis which was later included on Janet's 'Control' album.

Really want to hear some Atlantic Starr right now but am going to have to wait until Easter weekend...

'Silver Shadow' was great. Did anyone really miss Sharon Bryant once Barbara Weathers joined the group?
