Default Whats your opinion on the SOS Band?

I'm finding them quite a good listen right now 8)
they are like the missing like between the Beuatiful 70's and the dreadful commercialism of the 80's...
Maybe this will make my transission and acceptance of 80's music finally start.

Let me know your opinion of them

I think they are a great band. My three favourites are "High Hopes" "Groovin" and "Tell me if you still care"

How about Change, I think they sound kinda similar. Tracks like "change of heart" "you are my melody" and "warm"

I find that they vary between great and utterly boring (depends on the song). Slow and mid-tempo aren't my thing.

My favorite songs by them include "Take Your Time (Do It Right)" and "No Lies" (the 12" remix is superb, I remember the first time I heard it in a club, trying to figure out who had done such a killer Hi-NRG track, LOL). I must admit that "Tell Me If You Still Care" is quite good for a ballad.

Default SOS Band

I agree with Discofresh that the better tracks were;
1. High Hopes.
2. Just be good to me.
3. Groovin (that's what we're doing)
4. The Finest.

Any Jam & Lewis productions around 83/84/85 (like Change's album 'Change of Heart') had similar sounds. Cherelle, Alex O'Neal, Cheryl Lynn, 'Encore', Thelma Houston 'You used to hold me so tight' to name 2. Even Human League's 'Human'.
Ahhhh, memories. I luv 'em all!

Yeah it was cool to groove to tracks that had a slower bpm than during the early dance classic years. Either way uptempo or down tempo that sound defined an era.

They changed their style alot didn't they through the 80s? When they started they were quite disco-ey & by their 3rd LP they had a sorta Solar/Sylvers more RnB/fusion sound & then they got into that Jam & Lewis sound which was so different & fresh back then. They get full marks for moving with the times!

Agreed. Yes, SOS was a nice band transitioning the Disco 70s to the "dance music" 80s.

Default Well, Change's "Change of Heart" sounds like the S

because Jam and Lewis produced both bands. Back then, most Jam and Lewis productions sounded alike. Did you hear that Jimmy Jam once bought a new car for $95, 000. He paid CASH.
