Default Anyone with more info on this Sharon Redd release

Would like to know more about this remix of "Can You Handle It"
I have the original on LP too.

Is this THE Francois K remix (I have seen a remix from 1980 too) or is it an alternative mix? It's kind of a Dub mix with lots of loops.

I haven't found any info on this particular record anywhere, please Oh disco Gods out there - could you straighten it out for me?

Righty O, here we go;

The original LP version runs in at 6.36 and was mixed Rodney Brown and Willie Lester. (1980) This was released on 12" also.

Later a remix on 12" b/w 'You got the love' was released in 1981 which ran at 8.24. This was remixed by Francois Kervorkian.

In 1982, Shep Pettibone did a collection of remixes for Kiss FM
NYC. These were put on Vinyl and this remix of 'Can you handle it' ran for 7.20.

There is also a remix which was on the b side to the UK copy of
'In the name of love' and ran for 9.44, I think that was a montage of all of them!!!

Hope that helps.

Some of Gayle Adams tracks are just as good as the Sharon Redd song. Things like "lets go all the way" and "you're a winner". I dont know if you heard these before

Gayle Adams is all right, but she can't even come close to Sharon Redd. :P

Overall, of course, I was just reflecting on the reaction of a couple songs i played at the weekend. The late great Sharon Redd is one of the best.

Great info.

Theres nothing on the label that mention him or the Kiss FM. Found this description (jahsonic):
"Shep Pettibone pioneered the 'mastermixes' of Kiss FM Radio, introducing a new methodology by segueing records to build 'sequences', almost like movements in classical music. Examples of this can be found on Prelude records', 'Kiss 98.7FM Mastermixes Vol. II' [...] "

This description fits on this very special remix.

Took me 23 years to find this out

I,ve got Sharon's three albums, baught them all when they first came out.
I also like Gayle Adams. I've got Love fever, Stretchin Out and the 7" of Baby I need your Lovin. I think Stretchin Out got the same "feel" as the first Sharon Redd Album

Norman, don't forget to look for 'Love Insurance' by Front Page feat Sharon Redd.

Discofresh, don't you think that 'Love how you feel' sounds like Steve Harvey's 'Something special'.

Yes i do. It actually took me a while to get into that tune as i was hook on "Beat the Street" and "I'll never give you up". But yes a dead ringer, and her whole catalogue does the business

Stu Allan used to mix these two songs together on Piccadilly Radio's "All Night Beat" nearly twenty years ago. Very similar.

I was listening to Kenny Lynch's 'Half The Day's Gone And We Haven't Earned A Penny' recently, and that reminded me of 'Funkin' For Jamaica'. Lots of similarities between songs if you listen closely...
