| Being new to the soul/disco/funk scene i wondered if anyone could recommend some tracks which will rock a dancefloor for me to check out. I loved grandmaster flash`s salsoul mix and have bought a few tracks on the prelude record label. If there any strong dancefloor freindly tracks that you think i should know about then please tell me!. |

| I'm no expert but i would certainly begin by looking at some respected disco labels, and some of their flaghip artists. DJ Boogie Badness :D |

| It depends wether you're crowd want the more hard to find stuff or not. 2 good starter comps are called Magnum Opus and are on Debutante Cat nos; 5609692 Vol 1 http://www.discomusic.com/cds-more/1062_0_3_0_C/ 5850982 Vol 2 http://www.discomusic.com/cds-more/2696_0_3_0_C/ -------- Vol. 3 http://www.discomusic.com/cds-more/2695_0_3_0_C/ Both have popular tracks like 'I feel love' Donna Summer to the Bar-Kays @lets have some fun'. Also get the 30th Anniversary cd for Salsoul. It's a must! There is also a Motown Collection called 'All night long-80s grooves which is handy (cat no; 0660122). All are UK numbers and you should get them at your local MVC!! Anyway, they had them in Worthing, Sussex!!! |

| I think you should start with the best of the rather well known stuff. This is really a very good Starters edition: Casablanca records story http://www.discomusic.com/cds-more/848_0_3_0_C/ and have a look at this compilation: Liebrandt Grand 12 inches http://www.liebrand.nl/grand12/ |

| I play in a Bar in Nottingham on a main stream Saturday Night and they love all the stuff, so you can use your imagination as to what you like. They like all the groove based stuff, aswell as the more generic disco sound. You cant go wrong with the original sound of dance music. Enjoy the searching DJ Boogie Badness :D :D |

| Ahh. Well since I hyped these cds on a post a few weeks back, I'll recommend the 54 soundtrack. http://www.discomusic.com/cds-more/4401_0_3_0_C/ Nicely put together club hits that was remastered. I highly recommend these 2 cds.

| Thanks for all the responses, i think i`m after the lesser known stuff which still rocks. A good example is a track i heard recently by patrice rushen called "havent you heard". I also got a copy the daddies favorite track called "i feel good things for you" which samples the first track. Should be good fun mixing the two together. |

| If you really like Patrice Rushen, you'll probably go for her instrumental song "Number One" If you want lesser known stuff, try "Kilarminjaro" Letta Mbulu, or "Don't You Love It" Maxine Singleton. |

Patrice Rushens work before 83 is very well known to me, She was one of my favourites back then. (Still she had only one minor hit in Europe, Forget me nots.) Most music in this these genres are "lesser known" for the majority of people. (Of course not for the habitants of this forum) |
