Tonight I found that my Audiogalaxy downloading queue has been deleted without a reason.
Trying to download new tracks again, I always got "copyright restrictions" refusals.

Is this a problem of mine or what?????

OMG that happened to me also! Do you think Audiogalaxy has been closed for sure?

This has also happened to a lot of people in AG.

Yes, it's true. AudioGalaxy is no more. They were sued by the RIAA and guess who won?

I read in the AG boards that they're like mainting the site or something. I hope that's what's really happening.

Well, they're keeping the site up for now and they are going to try to offer legal content for sale like Napster tried.

It isn't gonna work.

I buy my new stuff (or get it promo) but what annoys me is there is no way to get ahold of older out of print stuff or stuff that was never released on CD or only the LP version, etc., etc., etc. I wouldn't mind paying for it but the record companies just won't make it available.

The only way to share songs now is through myplay.com .

I hope they won't get sued.

I swear what really kicks me in the guts with the loss of Audio Galaxy is it will be much harder to find rare disco/funk especially living in Australia because we mainly have pop disco in CD stores. And importing records internationally is a pain in the bum because of cost of sending money orders for shipment and worse it takes 2 weeks to send a money order from Australia to USA plus another 2 weeks for the records to reach my area. That sucks!!!!

I'll have to go searching for another MP3 sharer but the chances of finding a MP3 sharer that has rare disco is very slim.

That is too bad.

In the last two months I downloaded from AG more than 4 Gb of MP3 music, most of then old disco tunes that will never be released in any CD.

Cheers,

now that's a bummer!
I LOVED Audiogalaxy, and found it the best to download obscure funk, disco and hiphop tracks.
And now it's gone...
leaving a big void....
back to thjat crappy Kazaa where you can only download those crappy nu-metal songs or the latest teenybop sensation.
There's the real problem for record companies! Not the collectors of obscure music.

i think i'm gonna start using those icq exchange programs from now on.

It is a tragedy to all those forgoted artists who NEVER will have their work released for this bloodsucker companies!!

#$&*!!!!

Sorry about this four letter bad word but, it was hard to tolerate.

I read some time ago (dont remember where), an interwiew with Fred Wesley (former James Brown's, Parliament/Funkadelic's, and currently solo trombonist) where he said:

- The first time I heard a song with sample of my songs I think "I had been robbed!!" But, after some time he start to be hired to make shows because the people is getting listen to his work more often than years
before! And he becomes happy with it!

I think AG was usefull for many reasons already wroted here by other members and for this too!!

Peace.

I wonder, is it mainly the record companies that complaint about MP3 sharing, or have a lot of artists went irate about MP3 sharing.

The only group I heard that spat the dummy is Metallica. I haven't heard any other groups or artists spitting the dummy over MP3 sharing.

I never even got to use Audio Galaxy. Only a few days ago I was told that there is a way to use Audio Galaxy on a Mac, but apparently that information came too late. There are lots of songs (disco and other genres) that I want to download, but now those chances are even slimmer than when Napster shut down.

I actually think that sharing services actually help the record industry, especially with obscure songs that can't be heard anywhere else. If people can hear a song from a particular artist, they're more likely to buy an album from that artist. Face it, there are lots of artists whose songs will never get radio airplay, so these file sharing services are an excellent promotion tool.
