| After being blown away by The Spinners "Dancin and Lovin'" lp (1979) last year (its standout cut was "One One Two Two Boogie Woogie Avenue") I found their 1981 lp "Can't Shake This Feeling". I noticed it was co produced by Mtume, so I was expecting a slick affair but it was also very party hearty. The title track, "Never Thought I'd Fall In Love" are wicked but my fav was "Love Connection (Raise The Window Down)" - a pure hunk of funk. Who else loves these albums? And will I be impressed by more of The Spinners? I have heard they are similar to The O'Jays but I found a lot of their stuff not very disco. |

| Hey Boogie. I loved the Spinners, esp. while Phillipe Wynn(sp) was a part of the group. Certainly not strict disco artist, their smooth & stylish R&B style included some disco tunes however. If ya get a chance, grab the live album from 1975 I think. This truly gives the flayva of a 70s style concert with talented artists. Oh...what happened to the music :-?

| You may also like "Grand Slam" (not the Isley's but Spinners) from the mid 1980's. Most of their earlier work is more in the vein of contempory soul music. The 2 albums that you have are about as disco as they got. But give them a chance. You should get the Chrome Collection which is a 3cd set highlighting their work on Motown, Atlantic, and Fantasy. There is also a 2cd set on Atlantic called Anthology. I would avoid the Rhino Greatest hits volume 1 and 2 because they truncate many tracks. Their first album called Spinners on Atlantic (after Motown abandoned them) is probably the best album out of 5,000 that I own. Listen to the sample of "Rubberband Man" and make your decision. |

| Thanks. I noticed "I'll Be Around" and "Mighty Love" floating around somewhere in the top 700, so I think I'll check that out too. |
