Excellent lists from both of you.

Sammy, I especially like KOOL AND THE GANG - Just Be True. Wasn't that on their THE FORCE album? I haven't played that for ages. In fact I lost that Lp somehow, but luckily I did tape it, so I can still dig it out. A really good and under-estimated track.

Too hot for love - THP Orchestra. I heard that for the first time when I bought Disco Spectrum 2 late last year. Really is a good DISCO track, which grows on me more and more. Do you remember that one when it first came out??

Slick and Space Bass - that was (and still is) an absolute firm favourite with the Jazz Pilgrims. A bass line and a rhythm section that you could really get your teeth into!!

Nice to see you rate Vernon Burch, Mass Production and the Kaygees as well - I'll be digging those out!!

But Black Rock, The Muscle Shoals Horns and that Fabnia All-Starts trax - I don't know those tracks at all!!

What memories do some of those tracks hold for you, Sammy?

Now for Blax's discoish list. I love it! DELIRIUM is one of my all time fave records - it is especially great to dance to! Interesting, 'coz when you flip the record over and add Miss McGhee's vocals - they are awful!! Don't you agree?

Cameo, Grey and Hanks, Al Huson - they could have easily gone into my list as well!! It's Serious certainly is - in the GROOVE department! @d

The Norman Harris track sounds interesting - what's the story behind that one?

With a list like that Blax, you deserve to win the World Cup!!!!

Take care, y'all!!

Jazz,

about Francine McGee. You're 200% right! BTW: WHO IS FRANCINE McGEE??? :???:

The Norman Harris track was taken from his 1980 LP (Harris Machine). It's a good track, in a Salsoul Orch. instrumental style. As far as I know, it is a pretty obscure album. A quite "Jazzy" I can say. Very soft too!

About the cup: What can I say?

Peace.

The version on Disco Spectrum 2 is actually an earlier mix. The album version has additional vocals and instrumentation, and clocks in at over 16 minutes long. One of my all-time faves too

Wow! I never knew that!! Thanx for the tip. Have you got the original album, then? Don't think I've seen it in any second hand record shops in London - but I guess that version is pretty hard to find? An excellent record

Jeez, obscure tracks? I used to play a lot of these back in the 70's and still have old suitcases full of them buried in my bedroom somewhere. I used to buy shed loads on import from the USA to the UK. Used to cost me a fortune!!!

I DeeJay with a laptop computer nowadays and am slowly converting all this great vinyl to mp3's. I've reached 1976, but, it's took a year!!! It's gonna take a looooooonnnngggg time as I've only done 7" vinyl so far, I've still got 12" vinyl and album tracks to go yet!

I won't make a list, I should just upload my old record catalogues!!!

Later

Jazz:

Sorry it took so long to reply. First off, 'Just be true' is off 'The Force' LP. I love this song, the music uplifts me. As for The Fania All-Stars. A legendary Latin Salsa Band, or as I like to call them "The Rolling Stones of Salsa", this was their dabbling into the disco era. A very underrated effort I felt. The Muscle Schoals Horns were big for me in high school "very funky". The song 'Hey Roots' by Black Rock I remember hearing in 1977. Underground disco record which no one seems to recall. Never bought a copy so I haven't heard it since, but I remember it was hot. Hope this answers some of your questions.

Easy,

Sam "ALL JAM"

I have a super rare Eruption RCA 45 recorded 2 years before "I Can't Stand The Rain". It's got two fantastic songs on it:

Side A
Eruption - Let Me Take You Back In Time 1975

Side B
Eruption - Funky Lover 1975

Got this gem from Good Groove Records in Sydney nearly 3 years ago.

Here's another super rare funk favourite of mine:

Brinkley & Parker - Don't Get Fooled By The Pander man 1974 (instrumental and non-instrumental)

Really rare funky track that I downloaded from Audio Galaxy less than a week before it closed down, this song has some similarities to the Temptations because of the different voice tones like in "Papa Was A Rolling Stone". Have any of you funk lovers heard this track?

I got that Eruption "Funky Lover" track on a French compliation album on Vogue label, one in a series that has loads of early titles by familiar acts like Martin Circus. But are we sure this "Funky Lover" is by the Eruption with Precious Wilson...?

My copy of that Eruption 45 is actually British. Good Groove Records actually do a lot of importing of rare funk/disco records from other countries such as USA, England, and other countries press copies of funk/disco records.
