| Last weekend Disney had some sort of gay extravaganza in Orlando. Two of the named dj's for the event were Warren Gluck (East Coast - New York City) and DJ Phil B (West Coast - San Francisco). I know of Warren --- anybody got the scoop on DJ Phil B? Come on, Mark, share the dirt.

| I actually met Phil when I was in San Francisco (or Frisco to us East Coasters)in '97. He worked at the Record Rack and I think he's from Australia originally. |

| Hehe, "some sort of gay extravaganza." It's called Gay Days! Not officially sanctioned but not discouraged. BIG party every year. http://www.gaydays.com/ |

| Yeah, and remember that "Disco" on the "OUTSKIRTS" of "Frisco" (Definitely NOT COOL-what Daley City? South SF?) was filled with "outta towners touring"--(Absolutely NOT COOL)

| Yeah, even some of us "out of towners" have learned better than to call it "Frisco." I'm sure that Sister Sledge lyric has rubbed more than a few people the wrong way. It's my understanding that "The City" is the term preferred by those who live there; is that so, Keefe? And re: DJ Phil B. Yep, formerly of the (now former) Record Rack on 18th Street. And cu-u-u-ute!

| "The City", it is Jeff. As in "Tales Of ..." There was once a magazine in SF called "The City". You see they take this very seriously. And well they should. It's my favorite place.

Besides, what's wrong with a little 'Frisco Disco'? I really didn't know the term was disliked. Why is that?

Phil B. did indeed work at the CD/Record Rack (Mark, he used to know Ralph Brown really well. In fact, he was the one that told me Ralph passed away.). Seemed like a nice person. There are numerous CDs with sets from Phil. I can honestly say I don't enjoy any of them (Mark, after your postings about the Groove movie, I suspect you would not enjoy his sets either). However, Phil certain is a popular DJ here in the City by the Bay (Nicky, is that better?), so what do I know?? |

| So much for the topic of 'Disney DJ's'. I myself have never delt with them (Walt Disney World, Epcot, etc.) or the dj mentioned in this post. 'Frisco' or 'San Frisco' I would say 'get over it'. I am from Florida (birth-Liverpool). So someone says 'Frisco' or 'San Frisco'-there is more in life to worry about. Back to the topic line-Paul is (or was) a Disney DJ. I never (as mentioned earlier in my reply) heard any 'Disney' DJ spin. I myself would wonder if the company restricted them on the music they could spin and the 'style' of DJ'ing. Would these jocks be restricted by company policy (music type, lyric content, artist that would be deemed 'blacklisted'-aka Ennama' or what ever that artist is calling himself)? I don't know but I would expect if I was in a 'Disney' Disco or Cruise that there would be some restrictions on what the DJ could spin/play. I remember years back ath the chain of Disco's I was spinning at the DJ's were asked to not mix 'black' music (what a joke, there was alot of music and races creating it, but the majority was 'black'-(sorry I am AMERICAN, not Afro-American, Eruo-American nor any other 'ethnic' group'. I live in so I am AMERICAN!!!!!!!!). Us 'club/DJ's/stuck working for a Disco chain' egnored their memo and played what was 'hot', 'requested', 'current' and what we deemed 'playable/up and comming 'hits'!! I wonder if the Disney DJ's are able to do this? Can they play Vanity's 'Nasty Girl' or Prince's 'Erotic City' or any other song that has a 'R' rated lyric? All the best, Dj Phil |
