Default WEDDING Songs...

Which trailer park do all of these happily married couples live in, esp. those who chose:

Freda Payne ‘Band Of Gold’ (a story of abandonment)
Wham! ‘Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go’ (the theme-song for the one-night stand)
Village People ‘Y.M.C.A.’ (puh-leese)
Gap Band ‘Oops Upside Your Head’ (the detestable lyric: "Jack and Jill went up the hill to have a little fun; stupid Jill forgot her pill and now they have a son...")

You forgot my favorite, from the Country & Western Repertoire:

My D-I-V-O-R-C-E is F-I-N-A-L Today (I don't recall the artist)

JudyDoggie,

That lyric from the Gap Band's "Oops Inside Your Head" was taken from the Salsoul Orchestra's Nice And Naasty LP. It was a 15-second accapella titled "Jack and Jill" and it was the last song from that LP. Interestingly enough, it wasn't even listed on the back album cover track listing.

You don't need to be from a trailer park to hear songs like this at a wedding, Actually, I've only heard "Y.M.C.A"; as for the others, I've never heard them play at any wedding. I did hear "I Will Survive" being played a number of times, and I can never understand why a record like this is played at such an event. Perhaps it's the music that only matters, and not necessarily the lyrics.

Yes, I think it's the commercial aspect of the tunes listed that make them wedding favourites, as much as anything else.

BTW: Where are 'Le Freak' and 'Celebration' ?
Thought they'd be in there above certain others listed.

Don't forget the ultimate disco-weddingsong: "The Birdie dong (scuse me, Song)" by Belgian band The Electronica's.

Yes we still are ashamed of that one

You are not? Ever seen a group of drunk grannies dancing it

The one that's always gotten the reception going is, interestingly enough, "Disco Wedding" by Paul Jabara. Just be sure to fade out before "Honeymoon In Puerto Rico" (the moaning can be a bit embarrassing) and DEFINITELY before "Disco Divorce"!
