Default Disco CD compilations

Hi there!

Is there any good disco CD compilations that have songs from the early disco era (I guess it started sometime in 1974 or 1975) and better if they were as 12" versions.

Two good Disco comps that feature music from this period are...
Super Rare Disco 1
Super Rare Disco 2

For long versions of stuff from this period you could check out (if still in print) the Disco 54 series disco called "Back Where We Started From"..thats a brief but nice collection of full length versions and a few never before released mixes of that period.

Jimmy Old Man, :D

Of those 14 tracks only 2 or 3 are full length. The rest appear to be single edits. Nice tracks but most not even in their lp versions. :x

Do we have the same pressing? lol Cause on mine the only 2 edits are Tavares - It Only Takes A Minute and Blue Magic - Welcome To The Club. The rest are either original LP versions or 12'' mixes which there wasnt many 12s of the time so would be album versions. Unless theres extended or longer versions of a few of the pop hits on there I didnt know bout? Which are edited single versions on yours?

Hi drmusic,

there's a nice collection of long versions (Tom Moulton mixes) from the Philly Sound era, it's called
"Philadelphia Classics".
Was released as two LPs, then as a single CD with both.
I remember talking with Marky about this one, saying the long mixes were somehow not all that great... But then, on repeated listening I kinda liked them more... and now I love the 10 mins mix of the Intruders' "I'll always love my Mama". Tastes change, I guess :)

Default Salsoul

There is a new 3 cd Salsoul compilation out featuring Walter Gibbons' mixes. Absolutely fantastic collection. However the version of 'Stand by Your man' is possibly the campest record ever made :-)
