No real disco elements in that song??? Then I guess we're talking about different songs. Could anybody listen to the track after 'Blame it on the Pony Express' at http://www.wfmu.org/playlists/shows/12195 and confirm what the name of that song is? Thanks in advance.

Default "Just Look What You've Done"

# 176 “ Just look what you have done to me” Brenda Halloway ’67 (hard to get best of cd ) -

It also shows up on a number of Motown compilations - a friend turned me onto it about fifteen years ago, and that ignited my mojo for Brenda (and if you hate Blood Sweat & Tears as much as I do, check out her original version of "You've Made Me So Very Happy" - a splendid save of a piece of radio wreckage)

This was a great thread that maybe will get some more input . I see that so much has already been tossed about in these forums , of course . Trouble is people come and go , don't comment at the time , or threads get buried so quickly .....

I went to this radio show , Nickel and Dime , Quinny , you referenced -- http://www.wfmu.org/playlists/shows/12195

-----WHAT A TREAT ----robbed me of a good night's sleep though . Fascinating songs brought in by Peter Shapiro ------- "Beggin'" by Timebox -----wow
-----------------
---including ..
....................but not least of all------------

--------"PEPPER BOX" by the Peppers !!!! ....... :D

The knowledge displayed is awesome, but someone mentioned it earlier..define disco. then is it soley a record that was made for disco purposes? I dont know myself, but it must be tought to say which was the first one..unless of course its documented. I asked a question once..how many disco records there were made. If we had a start point I might be able to work it out...not!

It seems like the disco boom happened overnight, and somehow snuck up on an already dancing audience to other tunes.
Now, Im not sure about what exactly influenced disco, but I do know what shaped me for it, as a DJ.
The Stylistics
The Spinners
Marvin Gaye
Al Green
Gladys Knight And The Pips
Stevie Wonder
War
Malo
Billy Preston
Bachman Turner Overdrive
Chicago
Cat Stevens "I'm Ready"
Blue Magic
Ohio Players
Elton John
James Brown
Average White Band
Tower Of Power
Cold Blood
Santana
Eric Clapton
and a host of soul grooves like Aretha Franklin's UNTIL YOU COME BACK, Sylvia's PILLOW TALK (which was so pre donna summer for me), Staple Singers I'LL TAKE YOU THERE, and even the Jackson Five's ABC.
For me, disco took off like a pistol with Hues Corp 8-track I had, which included ROCK THE BOAT.
