Default Uncle Sams Nightclub

Uncle Sams Nightclubs 7th St, Minneapolis MN, their were a few of them back in the mid 70's. I can remember Mpls and Buffalo Ny. I worked at Uncle Sams in Mpls MN in 1976 as a bartender and projectionist. The club was once called the "depot" and once was a greyhound bus station. Prince played their in the late 70's. A huge place with a plexi-glass dance floor. Bruce V was the DJ while playing the drums to the music. US was famous for their dime nights on wednesdays. Two-Fifty to get in the door and 10 cents a drink. I can remember nights when the house was packed to full 1200+ people. It still lives today but as 7th Street Entry with mainly heavy metal and punk bands.

I remember Uncle Sam's. This was the place to go when I was in college. In fact during college orientation they had an Uncle Sam's night.

The music wasn't pure disco but they played The Stones, Robert Palmer, Loverboy and a lot of rock oriented stuff.

I remember pictures being projected on a screen either behind or over the dance floor. It's so long ago I don't remember all the details. You could dance on the speakers too.

Didn't they have a DJ back in the late 70's that was really good named Roy Freedom or something like that. If I remember correctly, he was really good. Wonder what ever happened to him.
