I'm interested to know what you think of Banda Rod Hanna's remakes of Portuguese disco classics? For instance, they covered "Chega Mais" and "Dancin' Days".
(They also covered some English disco classics like "I Will Survive". I personally prefer the originals over what they did.)

Do nightclubs in Portugal in 2004 ever play Portuguese-language songs?

I think these remakes of disco classics were OK:
"Taste of Bitter Love" by D'Influence
"Rock With You" by D'Influence
"Turn the Beat Around" by Gloria Estefan
"Disco Inferno" by Tina Turner
"I Love the Night Life" by India with NuYorican Soul

On the other hand I don't like that "Lady Marmalade" remake, "It's A Disco Night" by Pascal and Mister Day is weak, and Stars on 45 still sucks. "Ladies Night" by Atomic Kitten was kinda unnecessary, as were "Yes Sir, I Can Boogie" by Sophie Ellis-Bextor and "Blame it on the Boogie" by Jay-Kid. And "Kool and the Gang - The Hits Reloaded" is mostly weak.

Discosavvy,Chega Mais and Dancin´Days are brazilian, not portuguese (altough the language is the same). We also had some portuguese Disco Music in the late 70s,early 80s,like songs by Lara Li(Sei Lá,Fandango and others) and Herois do Mar(Amor,Paixão and others) and the theme title of a program called Sabadabadu was pure Disco.

Well,in the more "commercial" nightclubs we hear some portuguese language songs,be they portuguese, brazilian or from some of the portugueses ex-african colonies, horrid stuff like Daniella Mercury,Netinho,Non-Stop and kizomba and kuduru stuff, and some Hip-Hop.

In the more "underground" places we hear some portuguese artists, but they sing mostly in english or they don´t sing at all (instrumental Electro,or House or Techno...).

There are of course great portuguese stuff sung in portuguese, like Madredeus, but Madredeus isn´t club music...

Studio,

Do you know from which country Luisa Fernandez (Lay love on you) is? I believed she was working in Germany but that she is Portugese? Is that correct?

And I do hope that they are not planning a new version of the "Car Wash" movie coz' I'm afraid that they will choose hip-hop soundz just like they did with the new "Shaft"

Yes I am the Fly, bzzzzzzz :D
