| Well, I have an ADSL connection since 2 days ago and right now I'm in a downloading frenzy (sorry Bernie  ). A rainy week also helped to keep me at home. I was listening to old rock oldies (doing Rolling Stones-Rod Stewart comps) and I just listened to two Curtis Mayfield albums: "Roots" (1971) and the superb "Live" (1971). Also have "Faces" (EWF) to listen to. It's nice 8) BTW, I listened to some long jams like "Get on the funk train" (Munich Machine), "Evolution" (Giorgio Moroder) and "Love in C minor" (Cerrone). |

| Gypsy Lane - Predictions LP. Excellent funk album. Most shocking is that it was produced by Jacques Morali. |

| I threw together a tape the other night that I'm playing now... REFLECTIONS - Diana Ross & the Supremes (CLASSIC!!! I was soooo excited that Motown was going sorta "psychedelic" in their arrangement!! Tooo Coool!!!) I HEARD IT THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE - Marvin Gaye] (Just the BEST!!! Haunting and although not the first version...the Definitive Primal One!!!) LOVE CHILD - Diana Ross & the Supremes (CLASSIC SINGLE!!... seems to move with such a fierce sweeping sensation...but it's actually really quite slow...just around 104 bpms!!!...Bless the FUNK BROTHERS for their musical genius!!!) JIVE TALKIN' - The Bee Gees (this single just captivates me....the production by Arif Mardin propelled them back to the top of the charts at a time they were considered "dead meat". Many consider this pop fodder...it makes me wanna dance!!!!!!!!) RUBBERBAND MAN - The Spinners (thanks to that terrific new Office Max commercial, I hauled this out: Phillipe Wynne was one of the great singers!!!!!! Silly song...wonderful production & especially VOCAL!!!) :D :D :D THREE WAY LOVE AFFAIR - Elton John (working with Thom Bell...the CD of the entire Thom Bell Sessions is one of my current faves!!! How come I igged this for years????   ) ARE YOU READY FOR LOVE - The Spinners ( recorded after Phillipe Wynne left the group( I think)...Elton's version with Phillipe singing along is VASTLY SUPERIOR..but this is still Thom Bell & The Spinners!!!) TAKE IT FROM ME - Dionne Warwick(e) FULL TIME THING (BETWEEN DUSK AND DAWN) - Whirwind (Totally missed this the first time around too. Found it on a Roulette compilation. Just perfect for me. Great hooks, melody and vocals.) THREE STEPS FROM TRUE LOVE - the Reflections (I remember this song from back in tha day...but didn't know who did it. I have the 1980s cover version by Margaret Ryenolds. Found the LP at Amoeba last week. Just my style.) NICE AND SLOW - Elton John (from the Thom Bell sessions...a more traditional EJ song given a classy Thom Bell arrangement. Thom Bell is a musical GENIUS!!!) I'M DOIN' FINE NOW - New York City (Another Thom Bell creation that I've loved since the early 1970s. Couldn't recall who did it til I found it one one of those Rhino "Didn't It Blow Your Mind" cd compilations. They don't make 'em any finer than this. I had the 1980s remake by The Pasadenas before I found the orignal. Ain't nothin like the REAL THING!!!) ONE NIGHT AFFAIR - Jerry Butler (Gamble & Huff production sometimes mentioned among the early disco prototype records. Esther Phillips did a more "disco" cover later on.) SCORPIO - Dennis Coffey (Just room on side one for a little instrumental to close out the tape.) Side 2 later...I gots ta go.

| Hey Marky, I downloaded recently the three songs of that 1979 Elton John single. Frankly, I didn't think too much of them, even as I knew Thom Bell was behind them. Maybe I have to spin them again... The 3 songs I have are "Three way love affair", "Mama can't buy you love" and "Are you ready for love". What about that other sessions? Must be a new CD you have. It's time to give Thom Bell his own CD box retrospective á la Phil Spector, huh? In case he didn't have one. 8) |

| Well, I'm in the process of transferring records to tape to cd. I'm listening to: Sugar Pie Guy I'd Rather Spend a Bad Time With You Instinctual Secret Rendzevous (White House Remix) This Must Be Heaven Glamorous Life You Used To Hold Me and more to name a few. In addition, I'm also listening to It's My Life and a Latin Jazz cd compilation. As a side note, I am using Blaze Audio for my transfers and I am very pleased with it's performance and ease of use. 8)
