Did this Blondie song ever get any club play?

I know "Heart of Glass" and "Rapture" did, but was curious about this one.

Billboard "bundled" "The Tide Is High" with "Rapture" (from the same LP "Auto-American")...so it was #1 on the Disco/Dance chart. Trocadero played "Rapture"...I got evidence. Don't recall hearing "The Tide Is High" ...but maybe in a tropical island morning set it might work???

On the slooooooooow side, if I remember correctly. :o

The Blondie-original was a huge hit here but never "did" the clubs. "Heart of glass" , "Rapture" and "Atomic" did very well on the national dancefloors.

The recent cover by Atomic Kitten was a chart and clubtopper here, but hey, we all know the world is falling apart :o

Amen! I never heard this in a club and would probably have walked out if I did. "Heart of Glass" was more than enough. :x

It was a major number one here in the UK, during late 1980.

Who did the reggae original? :-?

You're damn right! "Tide..." was an absolute low. And from the other dance-efforts, only "Rapture" is allowed on my turntable.

Mantovanni with a BEAT!!!

That's "EASY LISTENING" Lawrence Welk music with a BEAT, baby.

Yeah, I said it.

Marky, before you send your troops in! I never said I hated Blondie :D

But I was not so happy with their dancetunes, the rest is excellent.

They made excellent poprock and Debbie was and is a great woman, but "The tide is high"----NOOOO

Luckily nobody mentioned "Island of lost souls":o

And BTW, Mantovani IS pretty cool!

So, spare our lives, we will repent (someday).

The Tide was simply aweful. If they had a party to smash those records I mighta been there. As for her other stuff, zzzzzzzzzzzzz. Just wake when you're done, I guess you'll be the only one having fun :)
Marky, don't even go there with Cocomotion. You've already beaten that song up.

Yes, "Tide" was a sellout, but how pretty Debbie looked on those days... 8) Must have those "Videodrome" vidcaps somewhere
Blondie was a great band for its time. However, hearing their albums now is a bit of a drag. But they had some terrific singles.
