Marcio, very interesting article - thanks.

Just thought, as they mentioned the horns in Beyonce's "Crazy in Love" - actually this is sampled from the Chi-Lites' "Are you my Woman".

Leaves me wondering if anything that is newly released isn't merely a blast from the past with a few slight changes.

:o Well, understandable...I mean, you can't have Miss Ross sound like any old Chic vocalist. She had to be the star. She was The Boss. So out with the horns, in with her vocals...

But if ya bought the Deluxe Editon Of "DIANA" with BOTH the original Chic mixes and Miss Ross' remixes included...in all cases, I'd say MISS ROSS WAS RIGHT!!!! :D

Now maybe that's cause I'm pre-conditioned to respond to what I've heard repeatedly....but I think the Ross remixes were MUCH BETTER.

Buy it and listen for yourself.

Intersting article Marcio. Thanks for sharing that.
I'm a sucka for a nice horn section. I just loooove Tower Of Power. Perhaps it takes a special vocalist though, along with an arranger/producer to either find balance or have the vocalist be the shining star. The classic example for this is Goldfinger. No doubt the powerful horns especially in the intro commands your attention. At the end of the day though, Shirley Bassey's voice along with John Barry's arrangement left no doubt that this was Shirley's song.
